"EU decide they don't want Google traffic for the businesses in the EU that's up to them, "
If Google's search results only gave foreign results (as in no european results- only american versions of it), id have to use a different search engine, because Google will not longer be able to find what I'm looking for.
"7.5% (California of course)."
Why 'of course'? Do you think that's high?
In the EU The lowest 'standard' VAT rate is Luxembourg's at 17%
The UK's is currently 20%
And yet we (UK) spend less per head of our taxes on the NHS than the US spends (in taxes) on their own government backed health schemes.
Which begs the question, if the NHS is such good value for money, why are we being taxed so heavily? State pension? Apologies for the digression.
"you mean better NOW as opposed to THEN? Better NOW??? W.T.F. ???"
Yes as in:
Then - "Linux is a cancer"
Now - https://opensource.microsoft.com/, Windows Subsystem for Linux, contributions to the kernel, etc
There is LOADS more, but I got bored of typing
Lynch must have a different meaning where you come from. Her house was vandalised, but she wasn't strung up from a lamp post.
And it was a pediatrician not podiatrist. (Doc for kids, not for feet), and was 18 years ago.
Source talking about the distortion of events
Unless you're talking about a different event? In which case - source please.
> linux is a Finnish originated OS.
Erm... not exactly.
The Linux Kernel started as a clone of an American OS led by a Finish bloke with many international contributors, with much of the user space written thanks to the American-originating GNU project (also with many international contributors)
or so I've Hurd.
I'm sure someone will be along to correct me if I'm mistaken.

Are you salty about that terrible pun?

>board and lodging free for 10 months
It does depends on the flexibility of his current (previous) living situation. Banks/landlords take a dim view to missing mortgage/rent payments. Just got to hope there is enough in the account so the direct debits don't bounce.
I was going to do a breakdown of how much it would save with no prior commitments, then got sad at the cost of living.
> does suggest that too much money is a thing
I was lampooning Bob's typical style.
I know there is such a thing as too much money, that's why I referenced 30s Germany. (printing more notes to pay war reparations resulting in hyperinflation) then followed it up with a troll tag.
Even getting in a dig about universal healthcare, which many civilised countries consider it a part of what makes them civilised in the first place.
>I'd prefer that it was Ayn Rand
Would you kindly become a communist.
According to FREEEDOM there is no such thing as too much money (30's Germany amirite?), or are you some lefty liberal who would take their money (tax) and spend it on something like universal healthcare.

>If you remove the requirement for heating from your power consumption
In places where PV is most cost effective, air conditioning (for cooling) is a big current draw.
The whole point of leaving something to charge overnight is that you know you've got a full tank in the morning. Not to mention the economy7-esq night time power is cheaper.
I suppose that will change if solar gets a bigger slice of the pi, but with the UK's climate it's more cost effective to go with wind.
Or y'know, stop pissing about and go nuclear properly.

Welcome to the community, perhaps you might stick around?
When I were a lad:
If you used the word "Mum" around these parts, you've just outed yourself as not from around here.
You possibly did Latin at school. Best mates with Mr Cholmondley Warner etc.
All would be forgivable (although the target of much merriment), as long as you didn't admit to being a Tory. Labour heartland and all that.
Do we collectively have so little regard, not just for the land we live on, but ourselves, to think that this is any way to act?
"Me first and don't give a fuck about anything else" is trendy nowadays. The consumer culture led to egotism being the norm... "because I deserve it"

How else can we explain Brexit?
>But you do have to worry about whitespace, right? That's progress all right.
I shall be more specific:
The white space you have to worry about is on the same line as the markup, not somewhere further down the page where it's easy to confuse the nesting level.
The resulting errors tell you *something* is wrong, but the computer doesn't know what you mean, so places the error message where it runs out of pairs which might be nowhere near where the missing/extra brace is.
See also: "statement expected", "unexpected statement", "file is not valid JSON"
Unless you're a super human who has never had to play hunt the missing/extra brace?
Of the "ones that matter" 2 of the three were originally compiled to bytecode *then* interpreted.
JavaScript and Python (and php etc) can be (and often are) JITed in the same way.
Not a good enough differentiator.
If you had said "Statically Typed" then you would be on firmer ground.
But then we have the likes of TypeScript , and a type hinting system for python 3.5+ so that doesn't hold water either.
Either way you are wrong about saying only one set of them matter.
YAML is just a way of representing markup in a way that you don't have to worry about matching closing brackets/braces.
It *is* fit for the purpose of being a markup language (Yet Another Markup Language). Shoe horning it into other purposes, or calling it a programming language is stretching things beyond reasonable-ness.
Just because YOU haven't heard of it, doesn't make it useless. There's more on heaven and earth etc
>that you are one of the small sub-set of humanity who seems to think that afflicting your choice of scent on the rest of us is OK?
If you're close enough to tell, you're too close.
I honestly don't think that people who use antiperspirants or deodorants are a small sub-set. At least in the west - maybe it's different where you live. The bath bombs smell strong *while they are being used*. I would struggle to tell if someone had used one that morning.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of the "dousers", but that requires repeated and generous applications. Otherwise the smell just doesn't last that long.
Literally typing this on my just arrived A2 lite.
It's replacing a nexus 6p with the much maligned "software update buggers battery" fault followed by battery replacement eventually causing a unrecoverable bootloop.
First impressions: slightly smaller, but better to hold. shame about the notch. Feels nippier.
Cost me £121 compared to the nexus 6p's £350 when new. I don't see anything in the mid to high end market that's worth paying several hundred pounds more for.
NFC? Can count on one hand the number of times I used it on the 6P. It's got a finger print sensor and an SD card slot. IP68? Nice to have but not worth the cost.
