My go to album for audio quality is Be'lakor's Of Breath And Bone, specifically the utterly sublime Remnants https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPHJycgRLN8
I listen to metal almost exclusively not through some slavish loyalty to a genre, but because it's the only genre that consistently delivers the listening pleasure I seek. I have been known to listen to classical, soundtrack and the very occasional trance track
Windows 7 settles as Windows XP use finally starts to slip … a bit
Are people still banging on about Win 8?
I have 8.1 Professional installed on my laptop with classic shell. I've configured it to boot straight to desktop and it's the best MS OS I've ever used. Fast, stable and doesn't get in the way of what I need to do.
8.1 is available as a free upgrade for 8.0 users so I'd expect 8.0 installations to pretty much disappear over time.

I too am from South Yorkshire (just moved back there in fact) and the simple fact is that the steel and mining idustries were inextricably linked. Scargill did for the miners and took the steel industry with it. Of course, the whole area has received a massive amount of European development money which has for example, transformed the former site of Europe's largest coking plant (and eyesore) into a thriving university campus, business parks, parkland and some very nice housing developments. Sadly (and ironically), the area is now full of free enterprise, yet the people still vote Labour through some misguided loyalty to previous generations of miners and steel workers.
@TheOtherSteve - You sir, are utterly correct.
Back on topic, the whole issue of speed = road deaths is simplistic in the extreme. What is needed is more traffic police and better driver training. Cameras don't stop people driving drunk, driving on drugs, texting, or generally driving like a complete tool. Traffic police do.
HTC readies radical Touch HD revamp
A couple of points.....
If you have an existing Touch HD, you can put WinMo 6.5 on your phone courtesy of the guys over at XDA Developers. I think they've also managed to get Android running on it too.
The Touch HD does have a proper headphone socket, so I would think it highly likely the Touch HD 2 has also.
Government slashes final Eurofighter order
How soon people forget.
Ok, there isn't CURRENTLY an urgent need for an air-to-air superiority fighter, but that doesn't mean that we will never will. Remember how we didn't need to replace the carrier fleet and then the Falklands happened? Who's to say there won't be a future cold war with the West and China, for example? Short-sighted cuts over the years will always come back to bite you in the arse.
Perhaps if the government spent less on creating non-jobs in the civil service, PR agencies, useless middle managers and trying to interfere with every aspect of our day to day lives, there'd be enough to cover all our defensive requirements.

Not The 9 O Clock News also did a sketch like that. The General Synod's Life Of Christ was an affront to Pythonists the world over. The main character, this Jesus Christ bloke was obviously a parody of their lord John Cleese. Jesus Christ was just someone who happened to be born in Weston-super-Mare at the same time as John Cleese. But even the initials JC are exactly the same! :)
