Google wants you to buy Nest CCTV, turn your home into a Brillo pad

David 138

Google news really brings out the tin hat people who live unregistered in their mums basement. Your paranoid everyone's watching me attitude makes me want to watch you to see what you have to hide.

SourceForge sorry for adware, promises only opt-in in future

David 138

If you survive the Russian roulette wall of Download buttons your doing well. But the Filthy sods then hide the adware downloads so that they look like an EULA!!

Close encounter: Apple Macs invade the business world

David 138

The last time i tried to add the Macs to AD I was surprised to find it worked really well......at first. Then when the time came to update there domain password it all went to hell. OSX would not update the changes properly logins suddenly started taking 20 minutes. I never worked out what was causing the issue, we have so few i dropped them off the domain and let them use local accounts. Apple make nice hardware but they are useless at software.

Thought Apple was kidding about diversity? Here's 50 MEEELLION reasons you're wrong

David 138

It would depend on how they approached it, I think i would feel a bit of a token effort like they where just ticking boxes on a Facebook how diverse are you quiz. Really Apple should focus on employing the best software engineers (they certainly need it) and not focus on their sexuality, skin colour or race.

Flash flushed: Google's AdWords to convert ads to HTML5 automatically

David 138

Buggy!

"Steve Jobs notoriously having described Flash as "buggy" and its coders at Adobe as "lazy.""

Im pretty sure Steve Jobs never used his products or got involved with either iOS or OSX. Otherwise he probably would be have picked his words more carefully. Especially considering the other article on the register with Apple as the buggiest of the vendors :P

Apple design don Jony Ive: Build-your-own phone is BOLLOCKS

David 138

Re: Alternatively

If people wanted to be told how their phone looked then all cases would be clear? Just because the iPhone doesn't offer choice doesn't mean people don't want it. Ives first decent design was the ipad mini 2 in grey and the. Everything before has been shite.

Apple CEO: Fandroids are BINNING Android in favour of IPHONES

David 138

If i didnt dislike ios because of itunes, the messy desktop, inconsistent UI and the dated look i would have an iPhone. One thing they do get is updates, and you don't feel like a second rate customer when a new phone is released seconds later by the same company. Android could do with more premium phones with continuous updates,

Not app-y with VAT: Apple bumps up prices in Blighty, Europe, Canada

David 138

"It was also a good Christmas season for the Bono-founded RED campaign, which raises money to fight AIDS. In November Apple set up Apps for RED, a group of 25 applications where the total sale price of each program went to the charity for a week, and the firm reports this helped raise over $20m."

Should have know that B*****d Bono was involved. Short sighted prick had this stuff only available on IOS so that there where exclusive updates to some games we could not buy on android. You would think AIDS was exclusive to iPhone users.

Euro Parliament VOTES to BREAK UP GOOGLE. Er, OK then

David 138

I wish they would break up the European parliament.

Just because there are no decent alternatives to a product doesn't mean it abuses its power. Also doesn't everyone hate search engine results that lead to search engine results?

PEAK APPLE: iOS 8 is least popular Cupertino mobile OS in all of HUMAN HISTORY

David 138

Installed it my work ipad 4. It really makes bugger all difference having it except all the apple apps dont complain that they need ios 8. I did notice that the animations seemed slightly more choppy. Didnt notice the design change :P as i hadnt really give it enough attention. iOS has always seems rather dull and i cant stand crap on the desktop. I would hate to see the designers desktop.

Also none of our work Apps broke which means its a minor Apple upgrade. You can spot significant iOS and OSX updates because they break everything like a point release of Java.

Hey, YouTube lovers! How about you pay us, we start paying for STUFF? - Google

David 138

They should remove adverts for users of Google All access music. I wouldn't pay for YouTube directly as i don't use it all that often for music and no one in their right mind should as most music streaming is free on spotify. Also would PSY have made any money out of that song without YouTube?

Aboard the GOOD SHIP LOLLIPOP, there's a Mobe and a Slab and a TELLYBOX

David 138

Re: Google TV

Amazon are a bit too controlling with their content atm. They are too obsessed with their half baked tablet and phone.

David 138

The keyboard is what tablets are missing if you want to do any actual work.

Finnish PM: Apple has DESTROYED FINLAND

David 138

They had amazing phones but crap software. They should have been the biggest Android Manufacturer. There phones are still some of the coolest on the market. The Lumia 800 was a great phone its just a shame Windows Mobile wasnt.

Euro chiefs: Hi Google. Here's how to REALLY protect everyone's privacy. Hello? Hello?

David 138

I couldn't care less about the data sharing except for ways to contact me such email addresses. it pisses me off that companies are allowed to share those without explicit permission. I prefer Googles ads to the crap that gets pumped out from places like facebook, Yahoo etc.

As for NHS data they should shovel that to companies by the boatload if it assist in research to improve drugs and treatments. If the Government cant afford the research then someone has to do it.

iPhone 6: The final straw for Android makers eaten alive by the data parasite?

David 138

It would be a sad world with Apple in power. Mobile development would stall. PC hardware development would stall if not completely stop. Everything would be an in app payment, everything would come from over priced App stores. We would all be, "Writers", "Musicians", "Graphic Designers" or "Web Professionals". This would mean that websites only worked on firefox because someone told us it was good 12 years ago. "Responsive Design" would become standard on all websites meaning that no one could actually use the web effectively anymore for anything and there would be no way to turn it off. On the upside everyone would quickly die of cancer from having to use iTunes.

Does this float your boat? Dead Steve Jobs to hijack yachts from beyond the grave

David 138

So we can expect a boat driven through the next Black Hat?

Murdoch to Europe: Inflict MORE PAIN on Google, please

David 138

lol

We all long for the days when what we read and heard about was dictated by the Newspapers and their points of view.

iPhone 6: Most exquisite MOBILE? No. It is the Most Exquisite THING. EVER

David 138

Re: Trully the jesus Phone

Why would a touch phone need a button?

Tim Cook on pale, male Apple: 'As CEO, I'm NOT satisfied'

David 138

So if your a black female lesbian and you get a position at Apple then you can rest assured its because it's ticking boxes not that you are right for the position? diversity in a company should not matter, It should be the best person for the job even if that means it has 0 diversity. Its like the BBCs policy of having more women on chat shows. Nothing wrong with women being on the shows, but surly they will always wonder if they are the token woman.

Its horrible that they would turn someone away because of colour, sexuality or race.

Gov.uk's broadband boast: Superfast fibre piped to 1 million Brits

David 138

hmm

They have upgraded a number of exchanges here but not many cabinets. So i guess it all looks good on paper. However those with 24mbps connections are getting upgraded so thank god for that.

You have to wonder what the uptake is for areas which already have good broadband? A lot of people couldn't care less. I would bite their hand off for anything better than the 1mbps we get here.

Barclays Bank counter staff to become iPad-toting 'community bankers'

David 138

Re: Oh good

The people who rush food at you while you struggle to throw it into the nearest trolley fast enough that it doesn't fall on the floor?

Tesco Bringing back the trolley scanners is alot better. However it is a shame the self checkouts don't have Con-tactless.

Bank on the other hand need to have people because you only go there because the cash point and on-line banking cant do it. Such as change your address or contact information and pay ancient forms of money in.

Google de-listing of BBC article 'broke UK and Euro public interest laws' - So WHY do it?

David 138

It shouldn't be up to Google anyway unless its a Google service. The request should go to the BBC or whoever holds the information. Whoever OKed this action should be removed as a European Judge. Its this kind of crap that makes the EU unpopular with member states.

French Senate passes anti-Amazon amendment

David 138

Is there any real reason to protect a failing business? Surly this hurts the consumer rather than Amazon. That aside ebooks will eventually be the killer. and they dont need postage.

REVEALED: Google's proposed indie music-killing contract terms

David 138

Why don't they just stand together an let Google remove all indie music? They could form some kind of giant label with massive bargaining power........No that would be a silly idea.

More companies should protect against exclusive\timed contracts. Spotify is already screwing the streaming service with exclusives. Soon we will have to have 20 different streaming services at £5 a month before we can listen\watch even a small selection of music. The music industry is slowly pushing itself back into piracy by making it too difficult to get hold of their music.

Google's Nest flings HALF an INSTAGRAM at Dropcam buyout

David 138

hopefully they will release a UK version of Dropcam.

Watch: Kids slam Apple as 'BORING, the whole thing is BORING'

David 138

heh

Its nice to see that at least one kid was interested. You have to worry that we will eventually run out of interested people and just be left with the iPhone generation who are clueless when the "Cloud" stops working after the last engineer dies.

Wolfenstein: The New Order ... BLAM-BLAM! That guard did Nazi that coming

David 138

Re: PC version apparently has issues with AMD cards

It played ok on my Radeon 6950. I enjoyed this game been a while since i have seen a decent single player.

Windows XP fixes flaws for free if you turn PCs into CASH REGISTERS

David 138

Re: Even better idea

My God people move along there's nothing to see here. XP is and has been for a LONG time an outdated piece of crap. Who is still using a netbook!!! they sucked with XP on them. They sucked with Linux on them, they just sucked.

We have a reasonable XP issue with my company but i don't blame Microsoft. We should have dumped XP a while ago and pushed our software houses to adapt. All of the XP machines need replacing anyway.

VMware poaches Citrix man to further end user computing ambitions

David 138

VMware would have more customers if it wasn't so expensive.

Google forges a Silver bullet for Android, aims it at Samsung's heart

David 138

Yay

The android OS is MUCH better without the modifications handset maker do. But I hope they can still make custom camera apps because androids stock one aint great.

'Monstrous' Apple kicked us off iAd, claimed we are its RIVAL – Brit music upstart

David 138

Re: <<-- Cynic

I guess Google should be allowed to demote Apple results then as some of their products are rivals?

In three hours, Microsoft gave the Windows-verse everything it needed

David 138

I have been playing with 8.1 Update. Its alot better than 8. Never really tried 8.1. If they bring in a start menu and the ability to prevent apps hiding the task tray im sold. DX12 sounds tastie too. MS seem to be on the up.

On the PS3 vs Xbox One its too soon to tell. Xbox seems a better all round machine. But who would buy either with so few games. This Christmas is the one to watch.

Triple-headed NHS privacy scare after hospital data reach marketers, Google

David 138

meh

A Google engineer is probably more trust worthy than any PR company and 99.9% of the entire civil service.

Dashboard Siri! Take me to the airport! NO, NOT the RUNWAY! Argh!

David 138

Wireless Charging and NFC is what you want :)

Im not sure why any car company wastes time on a Phone specific function. I just want to throw my Nexus into its wireless charging hole and let it use NFC to set the phone to my presets, while it syncs with my stereo wirelessly. Of course the iPhone would actually have to use modern tech to be able to do this.

Devs SLAM UK.gov's JavaScript-astic, 'shoddy' security education website

David 138

That site is HARD going. There is some useful information but how the hell do you find it!!! Whoever designed it should be shot.

Facebook app now reads your smartphone's text messages? THE TRUTH

David 138

I don't get why it needs to read SMS in two stage auth? User logs into new computer - Sends SMS - Facebook reads SMS? Then what? it just lets them in? surly they would have to type it in so that facebook knows its the real user?

iPhone fanbois outsmart fandroids in totally reliable test of brain power

David 138

Not sure anyone of them could be considered intelligent if they are with Ladbrooks :P

Google search biz offer BINNED by EU competition chief

David 138

Is this back to the days when a search result pointed to a different search result?

Why UK.gov's £1.2bn fibre broadband rollout is a bumbling FLOP

David 138

Re: Inefficient

Oh no, You poor sod on your high speed internet. an extreamly unreliable 1.3mbps is all we get, on a crap phone line. I would cut my leg off for fibre issues!!!

No more Service Packs for Microsoft Office? HA! Think again, Ballmer!

David 138

should have just done a cheap update to Windows 7 allowing it to be more compatible with 8 rather than balls up the desktop OS. Nothing like burning your bridges.

Apple, for one, welcomes its ROBOT factory OVERLORDS

David 138

Cant trust a child worker to fit it correctly so it has to be tested.

BROADBAND will SAVE THE ECONOMY, shriek UK.gov bods

David 138

They havent invested anywhere near enough in broadband. The joke is that they invest money in the non rural areas where bt and others would go anyway. We dont have roads, broadband or mobile signal. its a big deal nowadays as everything is streaming or online in some way. I think we should get a disability benifit for our crap broadband. we would certainly be more deserving than most people on it at the moment.

HUMANITY STUNNED - Apple Retina iPad Mini arrives. A solemn moment

David 138

I want to defecate on Steve Jobs grave every time I hear the word Retina. Buzz words for the clueless. The mini should never had had the low res screen it was released with but a small device should not be wasting power pushing too many pixels about either.

Im sure they will have plenty of people on there knees with their mouths wide open ready to take it though.

Rubbish broadband drives Scottish people out of the Highlands

David 138

Moving is a very real possibility for me in rural Suffolk because the broadband is shite. If I squeeze in with all the cattle in the towns at least I can play BF4 or watch a utube videos.

WHY didn't Microsoft buy RIM? Us business blokes would have queued for THAT phone

David 138

There would be nothing to gain from buying a dinosaur like Blackberry. you would be burdened with the RIM network which nobody wants or needs any more. People still like Nokia as well unlike blackberry but and everyone secretly wanted a Nokia running Android. Shame it wont happen.

iOS 7 SPANKS Samsung's Android in user-experience rating

David 138

Not a big fan of Samsung's version. Really it should compare Nexus 4.

Personally im not a big fan of the crap all over my desktop approach to things, but it does make IOS easier to understand for the retarded who seem to flock to the OS.

BT earmarks super-speedy 300Mbit/s broadband for 50 exchanges

David 138
Flame

Re: Have and have nots

It cost my company £28000 to have 10mbps fibre installed to the property because broadband in rural areas is poor at best. The investment is needed in rural areas, nowadays why should a company be trapped in London? The government needs to stop investing in areas that don't need help, and BT need to stop wasting money on projects like this. Your average person doesn't need that speed, and the companies that do can probably afford it anyway.

They need to get a good infrastructure in first then worry about rubbish like this.

Apple at WWDC: Sleek new iOS, death of the big cats, pint-sized Mac Pro

David 138

You have to be able to upgrade graphics cards to support new features in programs. Especially true with Video Editing.

David 138

Re: Mindbending

It looks like an HTC, S4 Blackberry 10 with a windows 8 simple theme. Also the lock screen is pretty much taken straight from he Nexus 7

Wonder when they will try to "Protect Innovation"

Also the no need to bump phone feature to share pictures is a short sighted way of trying to get around missing the NFC boat. Lets see that work in a no reception area :P
