One really pissed-off T-Mobile who can't persuade me to move to a new contract!
No 4G, but the speeds are plenty fast enough to retrieve email and run ssh etc.
My contract is due up next month, and everytime I try to ring a provider to talk to them about special deals, I get told that I can have a blackberry (unlikely that the support will even last for 24 months given the current state of the company) or a Windows phone.
Nokia make excellent hardware in my experience, but I've got no desire for a Windows phone.
That leaves me with Android. Which is fine, but I'd far rather have a Sailfish or Firefox phone - why are we always the last to see the new Mobile tech?

Does this mean that as well as the various chocolate bars and other sweet fatty treats that my local leisure centre sells in their vending machines that I'll be able to get a beer there soon as well?
I'm constantly forgetting to send in my meter readings and have had several occurances of being told that my meter has been read when it is quite clear that it hasn't (apparently "our meter reader took a reading but you weren't there" applies even if said meter is locked behind the front door!).
I'm also looking forward to being able to hook it up to my graphite server and start charting energy useage vs. outside temperature/time of day/other because I'm a geek and I like data analysis.
ID cards and the like are completely redundant as we already all have passports, NI Numbers and Tesco Clubcards, these meters strike me as actually being useful.
There are risks with everything and people that work in IT should be more aware of this than most. You are never secure when attached to a network, you just hope that the pople running the system at the other end know what they are doing...

Best we have here is 5.7M and that's assuming that the weather outside is good. When it's chucking it down with rain signal quality dives to closer to 2.2M and despite my complaints to my ISP, I'm being told that BT don't believe this is possible (rain interfering with electrical equipment "just isn't possible" apparently!)

The T-Mobile Pulse about three years ago.
It worked well and is still in use as a basic throttle for my JMRI-controlled model railway.
They never did release an Android update via T-Mobile that I could use successfully, however one of the modaco ROMs worked beautifully!

Look, don't get me wrong, porting Android to the pi is very clever and brings a load of apps to a platform on which they were previously unavailable.
That said, if I wanted a cheap Android device, I'd go on t'interwebs and purchase a tablet or phone that already has a touch-screen and probably has a lot more Ram and more powerful processor than the Pi for not much more money (there are pads on the market running ICS with a 1GHz chip and 512M RAM for around £52 - that's only £8 more than I paid for my R-Pi from RS inc. shipping/power adapter/SD Card etc).
I love the open-ness of the R-Pi (that's why I was trying to place an order at 6am the day it was launched to help it become a sucess) however with Debian, Arch and Fedora already available for it and applications that will allow you to do much more than you can achieve on a phone, I'm just struggling to see why porting to Droid is such a massive thing.
So that I wasn't restricted to the broken cobination of Java/Linux that is Androind on a cheap computing device.
Thanks for evcerything so far to all those involved in the R-Pi stuff, but this is a step backwards in my opinion.
If someone can get "proper" linux running on my Moto Atrix instead of Android, I'd be far more interested...
...and having issues with understanding the person on the other end of the phone.
Turned out the person I'd been speaking to in Bangalore (whom I understood perfectly) had put me through to a call centre in Merseyside for "local service" - I couldn't understand a word...
This box will be completely open and transparent though right? I mean, we'll know exactly what's happening to the GPS data at all times and it will only call 112 after an accident won't it?
Nothing to worry about then, as long as it's got no way of relaying our GPS coordinates at any given time over a (badly) encrypted wireless network such as, oh I dunno, GSM to organisations and governments that ask for it and only keeps the current location in memory we'll be fine...
