I agree if getting the "job done" is great management (who then are rewarded for it) then not getting the job done is also down to the management.

They should not be allowed to reap the rewards of the hob going well and not have to take the pain when it is not going well.

Intel may delay construction of German mega-fab to cut costs

Re: Idea

One of the problems with Optane is Intel wanted it to be a high end solution, so where not that interested in making it cheaper and ultimately that killed it off.

In a down turn

Could be they do not want to bring too much fab capacity on-line in the original time frame and want it to come on-line when the capacity is needed later on.

Snowy Silver badge

Single point of failure

With only one pilot what you have is a single point of failure, it is one of the reasons the pilot and the co-pilot generally do not eat the same food.

<quote>Pilots and co-pilots are advised not to eat the same meals when they are working. If something is wrong with the meal (like food poisoning), the other pilot will not be affected and can take over. The rule is not mandated by the Federal Aviation Administration, but most airlines have their own rules about it,/quote>

Not from what I read in the article, it was sent to the wrong address rather than the wrong amount.

<quote>

Marszalek chimed in with an answer: it was intended for a new cold storage address, but was accidentally sent to a whitelisted external exchange address instead.

It was supposed to be a move to a new cold storage address, but was sent to a whitelisted external exchange address. We worked with Gate team and the funds were subsequently returned to our cold storage. New process and features were implemented to prevent this from reoccurring.

— Kris | Crypto.com (@kris) November 13, 2022

Re: Everytime

The Post Office has at least started to pay some compensation but I would like to see some of them who where responsible for the following to face some jail time.

<quoue> These were largely private prosecutions by the Post Office relying on IT evidence alone, without proof of criminal intent. Public prosecutions also occurred in Scotland, Northern Ireland and in the Crown Court. Some SPMs were persuaded by their own solicitors to plead guilty to false accounting, on being told the Post Office would drop theft charges. Once the Post Office had a criminal conviction, it would attempt to secure a Proceeds of Crime Act order against convicted sub-postmasters, allowing it to seize their assets and bankrupt them. According to press reports, these actions by the Post Office caused the loss of dozens of jobs, bankruptcy, divorce, unwarranted prison sentences and one suicide. I think I have used the Post Office once in the last 2 years.
