I have maps and can use them, have even done an orienteering course, but for the "convenience and pragmatic reasons" you mention, I use a sat nav and believe it or not I have never driven into a river or down an impassable road because just like using a map, you still have to apply common-sense.

Serious question, apologies if someone has already asked:

During WW2, how many reports were there of people on the ground being killed or injured on the ground by stray rounds from aerial dogfighting? I do not mean people on the ground being intentionally shot at.

Mine was switched off by default but on enabling it I found it far less useful than the utility 3D Clipboard I have used for years - completely accept the security loophole thing but you can clear it when you like and get it to clear on closedown.

It is actually quite hard to imagine a mass shooting without a gun, I suppose you could point your finger and go "bang"

Wileyfox Swift 1 on 7

Just for fun, I followed the instructions on an Android site I presumably cannot link to here to upgrade my Swift to Nougat, the only thing that was a bit tricky was the wrong code for unlocking the bootloader was quoted but I found the correct one. After that installing TWRP then flashing the Nougat install and Google Apps was dead simple. I resisted the urge to give myself root access as you then cannot use online banking apps. Best of all it is pretty nippy.

Re: Wiley Fox battery life

Agree about Boxer, I removed it after a week because its rubbish, not the fault of the hardware but difficult to see why anyone likes this app

Re: It's all in the details

I have a spare battery for my Swift, I bought it from the Wileyfox website under "Store" - "Power and Cables" https://www.wileyfox.com/store/power-and-cables.html

Dominic Shields

Yes the MicroSD card limit is wrong and I'm not sure why so many reviewers repeat it, you'd think they'd know this stuff.

I was told that the the shyness about the real limit is to do with licensing and the real limit is much higher than 2TB.

I have the Swift with 64GB card (advertised limit 32GB), someone claims in the Amazon comments to have happily got a 200GB card in theirs.

The mixed reviews elsewhere about the Swift 2 seem to be inspired by some kind of backlash to do with the discovery that these phones are not made in UK and some brand snobbery.

Dominic Shields

Re: But, the reviews ...

I only see three reviews for the Swift 2 at time of writing, I have had the Swift since it came out after reading about it here and it is nothing short of superb, I find the negative reviews for the Swift on Amazon to positively reek of Dunning-Kruger syndrome and brand snobbery. I have bought four for various people and none have had the slightest issue whereas every negative review seems to say that the phone arrived broken and they never got a replacement.

The battery life moans I simply don't understand at all, I have never once exhausted the battery in less than a day.

Thumb Down

Hmm a lot of denial here

Its interesting isn't it? Any proper definition of BMI will say something like the Wikipedia entry does "It is meant to be used as a simple means of classifying sedentary (physically inactive) individuals with an average body composition"

However and this is where people get confused, it is actually rather good at doing what it is not meant to be for, as a rule of thumb for whether an individual meeting the criteria above is prima facie in a healthy or unhealthy weight range.

The largest ever report into Cancer published in October 2007 had a key recommendation of

http://www.dietandcancerreport.org/?p=recommendation_01

"PUBLIC HEALTH GOALS

Median adult body mass index (BMI) to be between 21 and 23"

The point I always emphasise in these discussions is if you have an overweight or obese BMI, go and have your Body Fat % professionally measured, that would settle things wouldn't it?

Of course the final twist in the tale is that individuals of high BMI and low body fat % still have a worse outlook than individuals of low BMI and low body fat %.
