Apple pays two seconds of quarterly profit for wiping pensioner's pics

Appeal

I bet they appeal it. Just too dangerous of a precident. Every repair can't involve liability for data.

Unmanned, autonomous ROBOT TRUCK CONVOY 'drives though town'

"navigating hazards and obstacles … and traffic circles in both urban and rural test areas."

Traffic circles? Well looks like the robots are already better drivers than your average North American.

Nice start…

…but why stop at cars? How about my keys, my wallet, my sunglasses, the remote, the damn cat…

Artificial trees that don't suck?

Paste these to the back of the "Solar Leaves" I've been hearing so much about and you've got a bloody sensible device. Generate power in wind or sun. And most of the design problem's have already been solved by actual trees.

Spot on.

Well you've nailed that. Well done.

Steam rushes from Valve onto Macs

Badgers

So far just painful.

Tried it for the first time.

Went through the update. Thought I'd try the free game. Couldn't connect for 12 hours because the servers were over loaded. Finally got it to download, took forever the application is now up to 181 gigs.

Then it told me my video card is unsupported (macbook), and started another hour plus download to update the game when I hit the "continue anyway" button.

So apparently this is a game in which you watch bandwidth get eaten?

I'm going back to "bejewelled" on my cell phone.

Should have been filed under "Storage", obviously.

Shenanigans?

Umm Kev K, you know every car image from a car company you've ever seen has been photoshoped, right?

Usually 10-20 hours worth per image. Cars never go out 'raw'. They are the most retouched images outside Cosmo covers.

South Carolina AG counterpunches Craigslist suit

Why?

Can't the police just see this as an opportunity? They can answer the "Murder for Hire" ad as easily as the next guy, and then they've caught a murderer.

It's like they don't care about crime, only that it is driven respectably underground.

I guess trawling Craigslist doesn't have the romance of driving the big car around busting heads.

Apple to look to software to differentiate multiple iPhone models

Bad plan!

And risk alienating their user base and causing increased hacking. Software differentiation really just amounts to disabled features. Buying a machine that has capabilities that you can't access pisses people off.

Would you be happy to buy a car with an air conditioning unit, but no button to turn it on? Or would you think that was a rip off. No reason that's any different with electronics.

If I bought that car, I would rewire it, and if I bought that iPhone, I would hack it.

Probably not the first...

But when looking at the price of a mac, it helps to also look at the resale value (macs have one). That pretty quickly evens things out.

Brits build e-car friendly solar parking bay

Forget the cars for a moment.

Those need to be over every parking space.

Protect the cars, the people, the pavement and reduce heat island effects. And it's all wasted space that we've already thoughtful removed all the pesky trees from. Plus there's already connections to the grid in the form of all those light standards.

Wether they are plugged into cars is just a distraction.

Build them. Lots of them.
