Teens reject Microsoft's Zune

Thumb Up

Zune was the best player I've had

After two years of fighting with the horrid iTunes software I finally bought an 80 GB Zune last year. Best thing I ever did. I found the Zune software and hardware so much more logical to use. The only problem I have ever had with my Zune is that all the cool accessories are made for the iPod. =(

MS blames non-Redmond apps for security woes

Update service.

"Oh, and they might want to take a leaf out of Linux's book and create an application repository so it's possible for users to easily update all their applications at once."

They have tried for years to get third party companies to use the Windows update service, yet have meet with huge resistance from outside companies. For those of you who are beta testing Windows 7, you have probably noticed that allot of companies have stepped up to the plate with their drivers (notably Nvidia and intel) to have those update through MS's system. Kind of confuses me, why not give MS the updates and let them bear the burden of the bandwidth costs?

Did TomTom test Microsoft's Linux patent lock-down?

GPL Fault?

""It isn't a case of cross-license and everything is ok. If TomTom or any other company cross licenses patents then by section 7 of GPLv2 (for the Linux kernel). they lose the rights to redistribute the kernel *at all*."

In other words, Microsoft is eroding Linux and open source and slowing their development. "

Sounds like it's GPL not MS that is at fault here. It is the GPL agreement that is allowing any part of the code from re-entering the community. I know it's not politically correct to say, but let's call a spade a spade.
