BT network-level STOCKINGs-n-suspenders KILLER arrives in time for Xmas

Who is middle England?

As a traditional centre right tending towards libertarianism person#, I would tend toward the Conservatives on the least disliked method*. Yet what they are doing is not what I would want, and the other parties are no better.

In fact no party is trying to appeal to me, they are all tryng to put me off. Cameron needs to take a close look at some of his other MPs and see what they stood for, David Davies for a start, then there is Ken Clark, two politicians I prefer over a lot of recent ones.

I do not have to agree with a poliician to like them, Tony Benn is a good example, not a fan of his politics but he is a conviction politiician not a sound bite one - oh and he saved the Concorde project.

Some politicians though I just cannot abide, like that tit who visited Gadaffi.

# Private companies making a profit is not evil, most likely making profit for your pension. I do not want the state micromanaging my life. I do not want the state owning all the businesses, and I do know that sensible tax regimes take in more money than so called progressive ones. Yes such things as defence and NHS need to be paid for. So when they talk about 40% rather than 50% for high earners, these high earners are more likely to be UK registered for tax if they are not being ripped off.

* Basically order you want to punch them in. Milliband is more punchable than Cameron. Cameron is a well meaning fool, Milliband is just a fool.

As to UKIP, am I the only person who thinks that Farage resembles a used car salesman?

Clegg is not forgotten, well he should be, Keneddy was more likeable, so what if he had alcohol problems he is only human.

Restrict the devices.

I am looking at a new hub to do this apart from I want to QOS PSN

I want web sites blocking

I want phishing sites blocked, virus sites blocked, cryptolocker sites blocked, anything sites designed for dangerous payloads blocked.

.

But do not cut off harmless sites with naked people on them!

The poo has hit the fan big time data wise

A customer got hit by Cryptolocker a couple of months ago and restored their main system from backup.

Since then backups have been overwritten.

They have now found their whole archive system is useless, corrupted and not readable.

Has anyone managed to recover data from an attack from a few months ago?

You are not supposed to keep it!

I always throw away toilet paper, I am not going to reuse it. It goes in the loo and gets flushed away.

Well tap water is fine, I only used bottled water because the water at work tastes horrible and I use bottled tap water!

Re: PS4 sat here now, waiting for this..

I see, so you have played a Move supported FPS for a while and found YOU can do KBM better?

Well I have played with Move enough to know that it is the best control scheme I have used with a shooter.

Trying to sprint with a keyboard - fiddly.

For a start I don't use the gun just the two controllers.

I rest my arms on a little table. Turn speed cranked up, high sensitivity.

A small movement of my wrist and I am pointing at another enemy.

I turned off any camera lock as it makes it grabby and that is counter intuitive.

Also remember that the Killzone games carry a sense of weight, no instant turns, no aim assist, not like say HL2 where you can spin Gordon around in a fraction of a second.

So before you knock Move controlled shooter, try one, put the time in to lean the control system, practise.

Yes it is good, and the only issue I had was when playing Bioshock Infinite I kept pressing the KZ3 buttons to do things.

Talking about Bioshock Infinite, before he tried Move, Ken Levine thought motion controls were a gimmick, afterwards he wanted them put in.

Portal 2 with the Move patch is so much better than twin stick controller.

If you read into it the game Ken Levine and Sixense both played was Killzone 3.

Which city, was it the falling down one?

Was it in front of Bilgarsk Museum?

That was a bit tough, walking bot EMP grenades and a few Hadra rockets kills it, shoot some capacitor carrying bots near the yellow markers zip line OR anti gravity ride to right hand yellow thing, fit and shoot capacitor.

Run back into building opposite the museum. Go through side door over road through door, grab Andrenalin pack and the news with Sev & Rico in it, then run like **** to the other power lead end grabbing the capacitor.

Set Owl on the spider mines.

Shove it in and shoot, if you die when it explode checkpoint saves you.

The section after now that is hard!

One bit of advice

RUN LIKE HELL the machines are slow at aiming.

A pet hate

Since you carry two guns I swapped out the pistol for something more fun, used fun gun, swapped back to Kellan's rail gun, used that swapped back to the fun gun and the bloody pistol appeared, just what you need when you had a multi barrelled gatling like gun on you and a load of Yankghast coming towards you.

aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MJI Silver badge

RFOM

I tried the demo back in 2008, struggled, so didn't bother, so got Uncharted, then got it cheap a few years later.

Well worth playing through RFoM, R2, R3, I still have to do the PSP game though.

MJI Silver badge

Easiest to despatch the tank, then climb up near the lift, grab the multi barreled gun and audio log, run down, call lift, run back, kill the Yanks.

MJI Silver badge

I am currently playing SP

Still on the second spire. so 3/4 through campaign.

And it feels odd.

Gun handling & weight is similar to 2. I really miss Move support from 3. Nice to play as a Shadow Marshall not done that since Luger in 1.

Now the bad bits.

Lucas Kellan as a child, his books were in Helghan script, as invented by Visari, the Vektans use Roman. (A-Z).

Helghast voices, they are all wrong FIVE games of them sounding like Cockney hard men, and what do we get? Yank Helghast, at least you do not feel so bad killing them now, even though they are still sort of victims.

Jorhan Stahl, why was Malcolm McDowell not used again, wrong voice again. Surely GG & Sony could have afforded it.

The wall premise, silly, by continent would have been more sensible but that was for story..

Helghast hate for name Vekta - well they called it that after the chainman of Helghan Industries.

The set pieces feel clumsy and tacked in, a litle bit like the Uncharted 3 cruise liner section.

And I have to emphasise again those Helghast accents.

And of course we all miss Visari's rousing speeches.

So I would say it feels like someone elses interpretation of a Killzone game, to be honest the PSV game Mercenary feels more Killzoney.

A good game but ultimately disappointing as a Killzone game. Enjoyed 1 2 & 3 more for campaign.

Power PC <> weird, X86 <> weird, X86 <> Power PC

Now to other side

Power PC <> weird, Cell = weird

The Cell was a bit of a beast and I cannot see how you could emulate a processor in the same ball park of performance as your new one. Even if the GPU side is about 10x more powerful.

Yes I don't think the CPU side is that much more powerful on either side but the GPU is massively more powerful.

Remember that the 360 was traditional GPU and CPU with both of similar performance. And the PS3 had a CPU a lot more powerful with a fast but weak GPU, but backed it up with a fast bus and the ability to off load GPU tasks to the CPU.

So neither will PS4 or XB1 be able to support their predecessors games as is.

But expect to see rewrites, but don't expect me to buy them

Well mine is OK now

My exchange PS4 survived 2 hours of Killzone Shadowfall with no crash.

My postman was so excited for his XB1, but he has now bought a PS4 off Ebay inflated price despite being a bit of a Xbox fanboy.

Anyway graphics best ot worst SF, 3, 2, M, 1HD, 1, L

SP Fun 1, 3, M, SF, 2, L

MP not tested yet

So it is best looking but I had more fun blasting through the HD remake of the PS2 game, I like 2 but it is gruelling. 3 was easy on hardest setting.

Oh GG as one of the KZ3 Move users you have dropped one on, the controls are clunky.

More on so called curse words

Had an idiot going on about the language on the forum for the game (a PS exclusive shooter), moaning about the swearing in the campaign.

Everyone took the piss out of him, including other Americans.

He could not see the hypocracy of playing a violent hard hitting FPS and killing scores of the enemy, and moaning about a few swear words. I think anyone would swear if their company was wiped out.

I was pleased that the American players also rounded on him.

MJI Silver badge

Reminds me of a saddo on game voice chat

As a PS3 owner

I just cannot take a console in its prime out of service. It will remain by our TV as long as it lasts along with our recently relasered PS2, and the occasionally used Wiiii.

There are not many new releases we will buy for it but tons of current generation games we have missed.

It has been a long generation but also a good generation. Some superb games, and the most engrossing stories.

But the HDMI lead and TOSLink cable are there ready for the 29th. 1 game awaits, 2 are on the way.

Temp work

Street cleaning a small town, in the summer, my radio on the bin trolley, quite a reasonable way of spending a summer. Empty street bins and sweep up mess.

Cleaning dishes in a restaurant, that was tough, and pretty boring.

Painting the floor of a garage, that was OK, and it saved them money by using relations of staff.

Shittiest job ever, working in a soft drink factory, boring as f**k and quite a few of the other workers were a bit dim, pay was crap as well. A few bits were knicked off my bike as well. Conditions poor, hours long. Made £50 over UB in one month, and that was blown on spares for my bike.

Done community programme, equivalent of just over £2 an hour but I got to drive the dumper truck! Usually repairing lineside fencing.

Done car delivery driver at eff all wages, (£1.50) but that could be fun, and I got to travel the country. But people wanting 1.2 Astras should be shot.

So there we go street sweeping, car driving and restoring a preserved railway were good temp jobs, even of pay was bad.

I would mention long hours of boredom are a killer, chatting speeds up time and does not really slow people down.

Re: Never understood smoking

MJI Silver badge

Never understood smoking

Along with a lot of friends never understood why people started.

School smokers used to get flak from the ordinary pupils, and I remember getting a prefect into trouble, she told me to do lines, I told no, she reported me, I reported her for smoking on the school bus and she got the bollocking.

But then as soon as I was 16 I rode to school, saved an hour a day for 5p of petrol, own transport beats smelling any day of the week.
