US forced to redesign secret weapon after cyber breach

Jason McQueen
Mushroom

Er...Internetz anyone?

Surely the simplest answer is to pull the plug on the internet connection for any equipment that houses or has access to such data? The terminals can operate on an internal network but I struggle to see why an internet connection would be required for R&D of military equipment.

Have a standalone terminal with an internet connection for all the lunchtime facebook browsing etc.

Italian white van man nudges sound barrier

WTF?

Seriously?

Are you REALLY blaming the journo here for missing a decimal point? How about the possibility of faulty speed traps or a error at the admin side of the Police force?

Margaret Thatcher celebrates 85 years

Beelzebub Has a Devil Put Aside for Her..

Seriously, is there a more hated former PM. A day of Miners and Scousers celebrating should help her shuffle off her mortal coil.

Hull Daily Mail exposes depraved local porncoder

Jason McQueen
WTF?

Man Doesnt Break Law Shock!!

Really, do the the reporters at Hull Daily Mail have nothing better to do?

The guy makes a legitimate living, pays his taxes (presumably) for doing something legal and they're complaining? Fair enough they're porn sites but he's only designing the website, not filming the content for goodness sake. Even the HDM states that the activites are legal.

And, as posted on the HDM website, the paper itself has numerous adds for escorts, brothels and more 'spicy' viewing material. All of which could be accesible by anyone willing to pay the 40p or whatever it is to buy a copy of the paper. Even those under 18. Maybe we should compain the the Press Complaints Commission that they're making porn and sex available to minors?

If I was this guy Id be seriously considering legal action against the paper.

Virgin to offer 100Mb/s broadband by year's end

Check Your Facts Before Posting

Ok, lets just redress some of the issues here:

1.VM do not traffic manage their top package during peak times.

2.There is also no download cap before throttling back for the top package.

3. They are examining how much of their network is being used to carrier copyright infringement but have already said that if people encrypt their torrents then their monitoring would be useless (get the hint in their statement). Also, VPN anyone?

Spider-Man 4 washed down plughole

Jason McQueen

Fail!

Destined to be terrible. I thought the spiderman franchise was doing ok but this just sounds like "how can we cash in on the name Spiderman but not spend any money?".

No, they wont be spending on the large salaries but neither will they see the returns.

Virgin Media 'overwhelmed' by broadband customers fleeing BT

In the interests of balance..

Nokia brandishes superfluous Booklet

Jason McQueen
FAIL

Do you Work for Sony Ericcsson or Something?

I think the comment is a little harsh given that nobody has any hands on with the Booklet or even know its price.

On the face of it, the Booklet appears to be a product I could be interested in. A small, nicely made, notebook/netbook that is sufficiently powerful to run office apps and has connectivity without having to use a USB dongle.

whilst I dont doubt that the move comes to meet a degree of corporate schmuzzing, to say that the product is mediocre and unwanted by the end user, when the specs appear to be better than 90% of netbooks that are flying off the shelves is just misguided at best. Biased at worse.

Audi working on electric R8?

Thumb Down

White Elephant

Im still struggling to grasp why people see electric cars as the future. Unless somethings changed, hasnt the problem always been that you just shift the use of resources further upstream, in this case, electricity production? So more electric cars means a greater demand for electricity and so more power stations. Unless renewable energy is used, which it wont be, where is the benefit?

Microsoft announces Zune HD

Jason McQueen

But Iphone/Ipod will Match It

Whilst its a bit of a downer that it'll only be available in North America, I think it leads the way as to what to expect from the next gen ITouch/Phone. The specs are very good and show that such a device can be made at a reasonable price point so theres no reason why Apple wont upgrade to similar specs. Unless of course they do the 'we know you'll buy our products regardless so why should we imrpove them' routine. Which I doubt since now Sony also has a OLED player.

BNP pleads for cash after reported DDoS assault

Rock and a Hard Place

Hmmm, difficult this. On the one hand you'd have to say well done to try and silence someone of the rubbish the BNP put out but on the other hand to do this, is to deny one the principles of democracy.
