You can get mobireader on symbian, windoze mobile, pc etc. Why not compare it to that?...
I have a couple of books on mine and its fine if im stuck somewhere I can read a good book. Theres no way i'd pay £200 for a dedicated device though. Esp one which can't even search - one of the main benefits of any ebook reader.
I got the C64 emulator for my N80 - it looks really great to see that small blue cursor blinking bewilderingly once more..
Some of the games are like watching re-runs of the a-team or knight-rider though. You thought they were cool at the time but taking a second glance - the're crap.
Still some of them like boulderdash and stuff work really well still on the small screen and keypad... But I guess like lots others above it was programming the old 6502, action reply freezing games to find out how they worked. Changing the way they work ed.. that kinda stuff. That was the fun of it. Not so much fun on a phone keypad and 2" screen though. ...
So if the DS Lite and Wiis are in short supply this year pick up a C64 istead! :) The kids will be plesantly suprised (i.e. WTF??? Why did you get me a brown lunch box for christmas? Its ugly shit. Get out of my way old man. I got some Man hunting to do. w00t!!)
> Other advantages include screen flexibility (a bit pie in the sky, but with the potential to give roll-up displays, and clothing with displays built in).
Cool. Is this not the basis of the invisibilty cloaks mentioned some time ago? (Where they display on the outside what is behind them whilst me, the perv, sits on the inside watching women remove various items of clothing)? I can't wait.
..what codeword you use? Anytime I ever ordered from them I always get the same thing: Base, to roughly the size ordered, with a scant covering of tomatoe and cheese 'paint'. Then about 3% diameter, roughly somewhere near the middle, some random soggy or hard blacky/yellow/red bits......I'd prefer to fart in an empty cornflake box and eat that.... Now newyork pizza in holland is a different story.... ummmmm...
..And soon after that expect them to patent the budget 'iPhone Shuffle'. It won't have a keypad but if you want to make a call you 'shout at it' and it just dials numbers at random from your phonebook. The hours of fun as each party tries to work out who the heck they are talking to.
And then since there is no screen, text messages are 'eeeked!' to the user in morse-code through the head-set... bringing all the joy of learning fluent Morse, to the poor..........
Its plain ugly. Well it is on Firefox with a slightly larger than normal font (looking at this from my couch on TV). One third of the screen is just a big blank box!! On IE with a normal font it looks ok. Big deal? It looked 'ok' to start with, before the tinkering. Still won't change me back from g-mail.
I currently have an N80 and was looking forward to this phone. But 2GB max?? Please tell me this is some kind of joke! Surely it will support the new 4GB and future higher capacity cards? No? No?
I have about 800 songs encoded at 64 which is ok. But that doesn't leave much space for pictures. And now since its a 5MP instead of 3MP the memory is going to run out even faster... And then if you buy this - you will want to have some GPS maps downloaded. But you just won't have room!
Ok yes you can carry round a few 'spare' cards. That was my plan for the N80. one for music, one for pics / videos, one for a few divxs etc. But the reality? I don't bother carrying them around. They are a pain to stop/take out/insert a new one/ wait for it to recognise it etc etc. Just because I need a bit more space to take a photo. And then any apps installed on the main card don't work until you swap it back again... It seems like a good idea - but in the end it doesn't work out like that.
The phone looks really really nice and i'd buy it tomorrow but not with a 2GB limit. Its an Alpha-Romeo alright... with a lada engine...
