Apple ends Palm Pre's iTunes charade

@Adam T

iTunes is not just Apples iPhone syncing software it is the gateway to the largest legal digital media distribution network in the world. Why would Apple want to restrict the number of people using that store? The only reason is to remove competition from other media players / phone retailers. Don't forget this won't just affect the pre, it's just that that's the one that's grabbing the headlines.

If MS tried this stunt with the Zune and WMP they'd be slapped with a fine before the code was finished. Apple do have a monopoly in media players and online media retail and their anti competetive practices are far more obvious than MS ever were. The sooner everone stops buying this bollocks about improving the customers experience and drags them into court the better.

Not the first time

I had the same problem on Saturday (13th June) I tried 3 different cashpoints at my local branch before giving up and going inside. 1st Machine gave a this card is damaged error, the other two let me check my balance but threw a wobbler when I tried to make a withdrawal (unable to contact....).

Hope it stays fixed this time.

Surprise?

Can't have been that much of a surprise, they managed to roll out the self congratulatory 1,000,000,000th download adverts easy enough.

Teen sacked for 'boring' job Facebook comment

@Greg Fleming

She's an office administrator not a network admin. Her job probably involved making tea and filing. Lot's of it.

It's a clear case of unfair dismissal if she had a permanent contract, it's more likely though that at that age she's on a 6/12 month trial period in which case they can sack her for pretty much any reason they like including just saying "We don't think you are right for the job".

Smells like bull droppings

"The good doctor also cites a study that "reports that 25 per cent of British five-year olds own a computer or laptop of their own.""

O'Rly? I suppose those same 25% also have their own car and their dad is a 9 feet tall police man who could beat up your dad. Lies, damn lies and dodgy statistics.

I imagine the rest of the stats he's basing this on would hold up to the same level of critical examination.

The issue with the Zif cable is that for some reason Toshiba use thinner (not narrower) zif cables than the rest of the world. by a couple of fractions of a millimetre. Some drives also have the pins in the connector the opposite way up so the cable needs to be twisted ov er to connect properly.

Try www.aspireoneuser.com/forum, there should be answers to most questions there as well as details of what drives use what connections etc..

No it's not. LiveCare came with a version of office home and student on a yearly subscription along with the av and other crap in the package. It's only these ones that will stop working (as the subscription will have expired). Anyone with a stand alone version will be fine.
