Apple rumored to put beefy iPad on diet

Memories

I loved my P800, still one of the best phones i've ever owned especially with the SCUMVM emulator for Monkey Island etc.

firstly!

Its qwerty! After that Faux Pas I lost all respect for your post, and I hadn't even finished one rambling paragraph.

As for your iPhone review, I take it you've never tried one? Or for that matter any Apple product?

I'm not an Apple fanboi, although I do have an old 60gb ipod vid, a 32gb touch and now a 3GS iphone. I only have them because they always seem to work, never give my any bother, simple to use and look quite nice.

I work in IT, so when it comes to doing basic tasks I like them to work straight out the box, none of the pfaffing about that I have trying to get video's working on my Archos.

For anyone who's actually done some DIY you'd know instantly that those are snips, not pliers!

Minnow 3?

3 might be small but in the 9months I've been with them they've been light years better than o2 whom I was with for 7 years, better than Orange whom I was with for 1 year, better than T-Mobile and Voda (whom I was with for a couple of Months).

Only once in this last 9 months have I had no reception, and in fairness I didn't expect reception.

I get fast internet, free iphone tether (don't tell 3), loads of texts and minutes all for £25 a month, only downside I've found is they charge for mms! A small price to pay!

Archos merges PMP with... digital photo frame

FAIL

Quality.....

So downgrading the Archos 7 to 2gb or 8gb is going to help it sell? Or are they hoping that stupid front mounted camera right where you hold the device is going to be the must have selling point?

I think in this instance I'll stick with my "basic" 160gb Archos 7!

I work in Public Sector too, we've got the same problems. But they are self inflicted problems, why use a smart phone to do these jobs when a good tablet PC meets all requirements?

Iphone is no good if you need to use it all day, but then even if it had the battery life you'd have square eyes at the end of a day, an ipad might do what they need. But then whats so wrong with a decent tablet P?

BT reveals faster broadband pricing

Sandy Ritchie
FAIL

Bah!

Off I scuttle to check their faster broadband option.... only to find I can "still" only get "up to 8mb" which in reality means 300kbps during the day up until about 11pm when I get about 5mb.

My Three mobile broadband works at a consistant 1mb at all times..... and it costs less! Typical!

Beeb iPlayer blocked by Xbox velvet rope

WTF?

BT?

BT Charge you get access to their v-box iplayer content?

You have to pay for BT Broadband, and have a Vision contract.... so its not free!

If you've already paid for your gold on your xbox whats the problem? Your not paying for the iplayer content, your paying to get onto the full live account. Anyway, what tight ass' don't pay for xbox gold?

We've got an app for that!

Got an IQ of less than 100? Buy an iPhone it gives you that 50 IQ advantage you need over "real" intellectual types who have one of those silly Degree things!

Need to breath and control motor functions? Don't worry, we've an App for that! Its only 99c, and why not buy a fart app while your there, you never know when you might need one!

future updates?

And don't expect Archos to keep the product current and up to date with firmware updates.... I've got a IMT 7 and it's had 1 update since I bought it and that was only because they ship it with a 50% broken factory firmware to start.

Samsung NC10 netbook

Sandy Ritchie

RTFM!

I thought everyone used it with trackball mode? I guess some people just can't read manuals. I've used the multi-touch a few times, only downside is i'm clearly don't have the dexterity to zoom in/out smoothly.

Quality...

I picked up one of these at Edinburgh Airport at the weekend, romantic trip to Dublin and a bargain purchase in Dixons tax-free shopping. Saved just short of £50.

Considered the DELL Mini9, but the keys were ludicrously small, the Acer I checked was Linux with 8gb SSD (no ta), so the Samsung won me over (I am a bit of a Samsung fanboy anyway).

The Samsung Matches or exceeds my 4 year old HP multimedia laptop (other than no DVD). Its more than speedy enough if you don't play games, it looks fantastic, the build quality is beautiful and once charged it seems to last forever. I've used it for 5 hours and its only just at 53% battery power.

Favourite feature is how easily it connects via bluetooth to my home cinema audio setup, my bluetooth GPS and my phone.

I'd recommend this to anyone who actually knows anything about computers. What it isn't is a gaming powerhouse laptop PC. But then originally I was going to buy an 18" monster laptop that weighed in at something like 7x heavier than the NC10. Yeah it would out perform the NC10, but it would also break my back when transporting it. So what if I can't watch blueray on it, I can walk from room to room on MSN with the laptop in 1 hand and a beer in the other.

If you want a powerhouse laptop then buy one, but why not treat yourself a few extra hundred notes and pickup an NC10 for when you just want to surf and email.
