Fear
There's a lot of ignorance and fear in this article. I think the crux of the issue is the British have a strong fear of guns through lack of familiarity and don't have enough confidence in themselves to handle one with out it jumping out of their hands and killing everyone within a 5 mile radius on its' own accord. Don't worry, It's natural to fear the unfamiliar.
