Also, people don't go into enough gory and graphic detail even when they do go complaining to the doctor. They leave important things out even when they have a problem and they're hoping the doctor will be able to figure out what's going on.

This kind of "survey" might be horribly skewed. Those that don't have any medical history to speak of may be spiking the results. I suspect this is one of those things were different experiences will alter the results considerably.
I wouldn't trust a government agency to be competent. On the other hand, I do have an interest in sharing information with other patients even in a dodgey place like Facebook.
People aren't so much "obsessed with tax rates" as they are aware that the government pulls this shit. I remember a particular tax that was meant to be TEMPORARY and dedicated to the local public transit system. Once it ran it's course, it got snarfed up by the local taxing authority, made permanent, and applied to the general fund.
They had trouble passing a tax measure like that again for obvious reasons.
It's simply not the role of judges (at any level) to inject their personal politics into their decisions. They are there to apply and interpret the law. They should be as close to "justice machines" as possible.
They should even resist the temptation to bend to public opinion and the mob.
No. The data is in control of a US company. Changing it from data to money really doesn't change a thing. They are trying to play a shell game in order to hide from the courts. The courts should not have any of it.
If a foreign corporation was doing this kind of thing in the US in order to hide from their own courts, I would have no problem with it going the other way.
This situation is nothing like hiding money in the Cayman Islands.
School kids these days don't even get the whole platform wars thing to them. To them it's a strange oddity for dinosaurs. They don't care about what brand of OS or application they use. They move between them all with equal agility.
If you think a kid these days needs to be taught a particular brand of software, you're way past the times.

The great thing about text files is that they lend themselves very well to in line documentation. You can have very nice explanations for everything you might want to change. No special tools are required and the entire "hive" is very nicely partitioned. They're easy to view, edit, and backup with generic tools.
One problem with the registry is that you end up with crap in all kinds of weird places. Stuff is cryptic and byzantine and hostile to human interpretation.
The registry is over centralized over complicated trash that just barely gets along now that the underlying file system is robust enough to make up for the fact that the registry itself is a sad joke as a database engine.
The fact that a system will strongly type data doesn't prevent you from inputing total gibberish.
Pretty much all of that bespoke vertical stuff should be going into the cloud just like everything else. It doesn't matter if it's in house stuff written by Munich itself or something they sourced from someone else. The vast bulk of their stuff should run inside of a generic web browser at this point.

Meh. When it comes to software, even dodgier options from Google manage to do the trick. Forget about more robust desktop applications (on any platform).
Pretty much everything you've mentioned is actually MORE of a problem on Windows rather than less.
The elephant in the room here of course is Apple. If they can't migrate off of Windows because they have a crazy number of Windows only applications, then that equally prevents them from running MacOS. Not only that but it sounds like this would be true for the entire country of Germany and not just Munich.
Sounds like an awful lot of power to hand over to a foreign company.

Beyond pervasive corruption, the problem with communism is that commerce was a capital crime. If you saw that there was a material deficit and tried to remedy it you were KILLED if the state found out about it. The entire economy was badly mismanaged. Anyone that tried to help fix the situation was treated as an enemy of the state.
What makes you think that one random pervert wants to be associated with an entirely random different sort of pervert? Windows itself was shit until it started to try and be more like MacOS. Back in the day, some of us even tried to resort to 3rd party products in order to make Windows more civilized.
There are also a host of various other influences that get ignored on the DOS-fixated crowd.
I would not brag about being inspired by CDE.
Even PPAs put up by one lone useful power user is still less dodgey than the vast majority of sites that host Windows downloadables.
Forget about malware. These days even the semi-legit stuff has shovelware crammed into it. Unless you are VERY careful you end up getting some adware infested alternate version.
Every time I have to touch Windows in any non-trivial manner it reminds me how spoiled I am by using Linux.

I call bullshit on all your nonsense. It really doesn't get any easier. Macs and certainly WinDOS can't compare.
There is no boot manager I've ever had to tinker with on any Linux distribution unless I wanted to do something weird and custom.
