iPhone VoIP tussle heats up

Matthew
Happy

cool?

so buy a iphone on contract, then use skype, and you get a free phone pretty much?

Why the iPhone's megapixelage alone won't matter

Matthew
Thumb Down

They are still important

They need to be at least 3.2 to look decent as a computer desktop. Im sure if a mobile phone company has gone to the trouble of making a 3.2mp camera the the chances are it will have decent quality optics.

Having a MacBook Pro I can safely say that it's NO more reliable than windows Vista, and if you tried to run anything on OSX with 1gb of ram you would be contemplating throwing your shiny mac out of the nearest window

@ Ted the Moron

Of course Mega pixiles are a indication of quality you retard - if you had a *really good lens* and a 1mp camera then you're never going to harness the full potential of the lens are you? You need BOTH. I.E, a K series SE. Oh and the iphone Camera sucks balls anyway compared to other phones in the price range.

Great article by the way!

Asus Eee PC 1000HE netbook

Matthew

pity about the screen resolution

Looks ok apart from that and the price..

I have a 14" aspire laptop with a 4hour battery that I picked up for NZ$600 NEW. Sure it doesn't have the portability but I can't help but feel that since this eeeeeeeee is costing more then its really a small laptop rather than a netbook

Big labels or Google - who is the songwriters' worst enemy?

Matthew
Thumb Down

He sounds dead

You need to move with the times, I seriously doubt that record sales will increase within the next 10 years, but they will have to find alternative revenue. If songwriters won't accept that, buy say "how dare they dictate my life etc....) then they will be sleeping in the gutters I guess. Its the consumer that sets the rules..

I also don't feel that music quality has decreased, It seams just as bad for the most part, with the few good groups just as good

It's going to be quiet a hassle to get windows started in the EU now.

1) Go to another computer

2) Download Web Browser

3) Buy flash disk

4) copy Browser to Flash disk

5) Go back to original computer

6) Install Browser

Yeah.. great step forward.

I still love my k800i

All SE's new phones are crap :-( I bought my SE K800i brand new.. and now years later they still haven't come out with a better model.

Mine still has good 3.2mp camera, xeon flash, email, internet, google maps, messenger, *JOY STICK*,

a headphone/charger connector on the bottom where it should be, good mp3/movie player

hrmm.. why would you "upgrade"?

Get a new k800i, and you'll be much happier and richer too! If you want a 8mp camera then get a proper one, over 3.2mp pixles are meaningless unless your printing A4 sized pictures

iPlayer chief pushes tiered charging for ISPs

Matthew
Coat

WTF?

How is 20gb used in the iplayer application different from 20gb used from bit torrent/gaming?

If you pay $$ for a service then that's what you should get, and if the ISP's can't deliver then they should raise prices until S=D.... Do none of them do econ101 any more?

Man faces $52k bill after voicemail breach

Bugger...

Well I'm with Vodafone NZ, and I just put a $200 cap on my bill, so phone just stops any services that are chargeable (I.e. free minutes and texts still apply) when the bill reaches $200.

Has saved me from some big bills sometimes :-)

(due to our data being 10c/kb until recently this year)

More regulation in this industry is needed.

Battery builders beg for $1bn

Paris Hilton

RE: AC

I'm thinking NiCad due to Lion batteries being so unstable, and also the fact that there is a severe shortage of lithium, oh and also price.

Though, I think ultimately some smart cookie will invent a cleaver way of making liquid H viable..

But: the future is definitely not Lithium.

New York 'iPod tax' incites media bleating
