Make their own hardware

I see no difference in this stance from IBM than the stance from other companies including Microsft, Sun, HP or Apple. No one supports operating systems on non approved hardware. If these companies want a mainframe, then make the hardware. While it would be nice to emulate the OS on other platforms, there is no rule saying that IBM has to support it.

The phone is ugly. While it may have some advantages over the iPhone, it is definitely not hip. Good luck Motorola.

For the home user?

All these companies are missing out on one set of users, the home users. A quad core chip can be easily divided into at least 2 VMs. While there are a bunch of free Type 2 hypervisors, the bare metal hypervisors costs a huge amount of money or support only very high end hardware.

Since Bush, Cheney and the rest of the Admin believe that war is the only solution to problems this comes as no surprise. However, why are they spending money hand over foot when the economy is supposedly broke? I guess they don't care about anyone else except for themselves and military buddies.
