As Trucrypt does literally mount and can be used easily (and there is TruCypt for MacOS too),

HOWEVER if the flash memory module isn't in the best of states, it can expose it to read/write errors either along the bus or within the unit itself.

That and there is one heck of a performance hit on R/W operations.

I'd suggest IronKey for a pretty much indestructible one, or Blockmasters "Safesticks". More expensive, but you get what you pay for IMO.

If you're in an environment that requires NO data to be written to a unencrypted flash drive, I would avoid the Kingston Flash Drives (due to the minor fact that they leave a portion of the drive accessible to anything even when you've encrypted as much of the drive as possible ).

I peh at your measly 8 screws for new gen. I remembering recovering my friend's hard disk from her old PowerBook 17". 50ish screws later, I finally managed to get in, recover the data off the drive onto my computer, and then put the blasted thing back together.

And it was just as bad in iBook land.

Whilst 8 screws may seem inconvenient (says he who breaks in to his PC laptops with 2 of them) 8 is NOT the end of the world.

I just wish Apple we more consistent when developing products and using the same screws throughout...

Alas, I'm in the market for a new macbook (the 24 screw take-apart to slap in a new superdrive is just depressing enough to consider it)

My problem with the iPlasticBook (hmm. I'll tm that later) is that in the 18 months I've had it, the edging around the keyboard top has cracked off at the edges bit by bit.

If it wasn't for the extra cost, I'd consider a UniBody....

If you need a phone for going out with and not afriad to drop in beer, this is it. Better than the F3 and with a usable interface. Its like the C168 which I use in the USA.

It works, it makes calls.... what more do you want from a phone that costs £3.

Of course, buy it handset only, and it shoots up to £39.10!!!
