Yes.

proof that the software is too complex

Sorry but this is an own goal. If the product was properly documented and easy to use, then this level of training wouldn't exist. Either that or they're hawking unncessary training to idiots who'll pay. Either way I don't want in.

"The drive ... can handle 12 separate video streams simultaneously with a sustained data transfer rate of 100MB/sec and a max one of 300MB/sec."

12x100MB/sec = 1.2GB/s

Wow, that's impressive. Especially at 5.4 RPM.

Re: I never could make my slinky work

Well the plastic ones are probably not real slinkys (slinkies?)

I bought a new "original" slinky ~10 years ago that says on the box something to the effect that all official slinkys ever made have been made on the same machine. I assume they're still doing the same.

Re: Oldtimer alert!

The tunefs "you can't tune a fish" joke was removed around the time of SunOS4 (BSD) -> Solaris 2.0 (SVR4) transition.

In response, there was a bug raised in the Sun bug database - I can't remember whether it was externally visible - but it was titled "AT&T are humorless jerks" and the bug went on to demand the tunefs manpage joke be restored.

Motörheadphönes ears-in review

who knows....

Any true motorhead fan can't hear that much :)

I had tinitus for a week after my first motorhead gig back in the 80s - they were easily the loudest band I've heard.

That is all.

I propose a fix... REDUPE

Clearly what's needed here is a redup() function to fix these nasty dedup()'d blocks.

I always thought dedup was a nasty communist plot to dilute our precious bodily fluids.

I'm off to patent redup(), before netapp claims they thought of it first.

Hands on with the new Apple MacBook Air

prejudiced?

Seriously, pointing out that the machine is far more expensive than the wintel competition isn't prejudice, it's just a plain fact, so get over it. Clearly it seems the reviewer is a Apple apologist and feels the need to come out fighting with this assertion. As it stands - and reading the other comments - the price IS the sole interesting fact about this latest Apple notebook offering. The rest of the stats are just a list of parts that will fit in the case of the specified dimensions and do the required job for the sort of people who will buy this thing.

Is it too much to ask for an actual review conducted over a few days using actual proper demo kit, and by a reviewer capable of neutrality?

how do you actually use it though?

OK so it's a large ipod touch. So I could (if I owned one) pick up an ipod touch with one hand and operate the touch screen with the other hand. This thing is a lot bigger though... so where does it go? flat on a table? flat on your lap? Sorry but my neck isn't up to craning over at that angle.
