I'm surprised they are doing so well. They have a good warranty replacement program AND I've needed it for the last two WD drives I bought, a 1TB and a 2 TB.

Aussie atheists knocked offline
Religious zealots DDOS backfires
While I hope they catch and prosecute the religious zealots who launched the attack, the story about it has probably driven more traffic to the atheist websites than anything else the atheists could have done.
I didn't know anything about Australian atheists before, and I'm impressed by their level of activity.
Trade body doubles efforts against pirate software
A pox on the BSA and the pirates!
The BSA continues to send out misleading information in this release. First, I highly doubt the figure that 41% of software is illegal, and second, the "estimate" of the value of illegally copied software is ridiculous because most of that software would never be installed at all if people had to pay for it.
Note - personally, I run Linux and hardly any of the software I've installed is proprietary. I do run some proprietary software with CrossOver Office. I resent both the BSA with their lies and mistruths AND the software pirates who make cheap copies of proprietary software available. Free and Open Source software would compete much better against proprietary software if there weren't so much unfair competition from pirates.
Seagate promises second fault fix in 24 hours
Seagate not handling problem well.
Seagate has not handled this well. Some stories even say Seagate has promised to resurrect our data - for free - and their tech supports wants between $350 and $3500 to do this when you call their tech support line. My warranty is in effect until July 2012 and my hd is nothing but a useless brick! They certainly don't answer their e-mail!

Lori Drew guilty in MySpace bully trial
Violating MY Space terms should not be a crime.
Lori Drew is an evil, unrepentant liar who's responsible for the death of a vulnerable child. She deserves to rot in hell.
That said, she does not deserve to be convicted of a wholly invented "crime" of violating MySpace terms of use. I predict this case will be overthrown on appeal.
I also hope the child's parents sue Lori Drew in civil court, and prevail.
