Most from 3.5" drives will hold up, from above, a 16 ounce hammer handily. And, of course, fridge magnets -- but a tiny dab of hot-melt glue or silicone centrally on the magnet will provide a bit of rocker, and easier removal.
Devoutly to be wished, methinks. What has me wondering is what keeps this guy from laughing his ass off in the face of what's coming across the courtroom. Maybe Uber is trying to get him to bust a gut, in a bid to build a case for 'reasonable apprehension of bias'? That wouldn't surprise me.
Similarly, Apple would have to prove an impossibility -- if, with a gun to their collective head, they can't, in fact, break the encryption. Either because they've done their self-selected job well. Or breaking the encryption just isn't within the realm of the possible. Putting things another way: How much of an effort should Apple expend if they're forced to walk the plank? Should they be required to try until the heat death of the universe?
I'm left wondering if there's a way to turn that face-recognition shit off permanently. Nothing nefarious in wanting the option, but without the option your device dies with you. Otherwise, you might just want the benefits to be accelerometer-triggered. Or passcode-protected.

All this calculation and speculation is interesting and enlightening. Probably very close to the money. One of the things we're assuming, though, is that NK is doing their testing publicly and earnestly -- in keeping with received dramaturgical wisdom about emergent nuclear weapons programs in small, isolated, secretive rogue nations run by hereditary dictators.

Conversely, let's say you don't spent anything on advertising, but decide, at one point, to spend $1m on advertising in the next FY. The only thing* that would make doing so worthwhile is an increase in sales large enough to return profits at least as large as the expenditures on advertising. Not sales -- profit. Otherwise, you're throwing money away.
An alternative to advertising: instead of the 'spend' aggravating societal noise with inane ads of all kinds in various contexts, pay your staff/employees more, tell them that you're doing so with what would otherwise be the advertising budget, and tell them why -- namely that you are hoping to encourage them to invest, in some sense, in some way, in the success of your business.
* Well, not exactly the only thing; this is shooting from the hip after all.
