Why on earth are you using software as an excuse for hardware prices? I should be able to buy a PC with much higher spec, for less than a mac, then purchase and install OSX. Apple won't let me.

Judge strips MS 'Vista Capable' lawsuit of class action status

Hombre sin nombre

Vista is Vista by any other name

Vista Home Basic is still Vista after all. Any box with a half gig of ram and a 2Ghz processor is really 'Vista capable'. The stickers didn't say Vista Ultimate capable or anything like that.

Next people will be mad that their prebuilt gaming PCs won't run Crysis at 16x AA.

Could someone please explain

how digital meters will have any effect on power use?

I personally own 2 LED light bulbs. I use one as a desk lamp, and I can't think of a use for the other. They are exceedingly dim and annoyingly blue. I suppose I'll use the second to replace the first after its 50,000 hours are up (ten years from now or so)

The gov is always coming up with fancy ways to say 'everyone'.

As the sometime owner of a scary evil black military style semi-automatic assault rifle, I will admit that the only practical application I foresee for it would be the killing of another person.

I live in a bad neighborhood. You don't really have the same gang violence problems over there, as your inner city minority population is much less of a problem. I have a big scary gun because I live near big scary people who may someday decide to rob me.

I will sell it/get rid of it when either police response time comes down to <10seconds, or when there are no more violent youths who want my stuff. (never)

@AC vetting fan

I cannot describe my hatred for you in mere words, so you'll have to bear with me here. What you are describing is a Fahrenheit 451/Nineteen-Eighty-Four/Fascist style control over a public medium defined by free expression. You propose shutting down all websites that can't vet all user-posted content before it becomes publicly available. Not only is what you propose a violation of the rights set forth in the governing documents of most developed countries, but it would be completely impossible to implement and enforce. My point here is, you should be worried about people hitting you over the head with a tissue box and laughing about it online next.

Microsoft says it again - no second beta for Windows 7

Worth buying for some perhaps

Namely those like me who still run XP on all of their machines. Must suck to have paid out for Vista.

Of what benefit at all are the IWF to society? Really now. They are there to "prevent accidental access to inappropriate material." Not to stop the actual criminals who are actively searching for such filth. They really are the full embodiment of the nanny state, preventing you from seeing things you might not want to see, without your knowledge or consent.

In theory, any image is 'potentially illegal', so any images that aren't blocked must therefore be guaranteed legal, otherwise it would be blocked.

Also, for the record, their blocklist has only been enforced for around 4 years now, not 12.

No AC because I am out of their sphere of influence.
