How can you get both sides of a story if you are being forcefed the side of the narrative that the people who control you want you to hear, the germans thought hitler was brilliant in the 1930`s and if you were a german during these times he probably looked good coming out of a war. so if we allow all social media companies to carry on pushing just the side that either the bots programmers or the socially inept call centre workers point of views are and be hidden from the world just because you are different and may need a little more proof.

US court responds to Chinese comms giant sueball: There's no Huawei we're lifting ban on federal agencies using your kit

we are all responsible for our own security, plus we have already exposed our data to all and sundry already. if huawei had backdoors or infact anything at all non standard our security professionals would find it anyway.

does this mean we can ban all usa equipment that we know the cia and fbi have been caught using against us

i am probably not the best person to comment on avast as i still use avg free and i have not been subject to any malware or virus attacks since the late 90`s. because i am far too dilligent to allow myself to install software that is only open source and verified by its users.

Chrome ad-blocker crackdown preview due late July. Here's a half-dozen reasons why add-on devs are still upset

we make the rules

when will these multinationals realize they are where they are because we actually trusted them to give us the most safe and secure browsing experience, we now need adblockers to stop attacks on our system by meddled with graphics and video, we need a vpn to keep us safe from snooping and even today we need antivirus to stop not viruses but malware attacks.

maybe its time to stop our computers sending ANY data outside our own networks that we do not initialize like we did in the late 90`s.

i have blocked every advert for the last 28 years because if i want something i will research it why should noobs be able to profit from someone looking for information.

ken jay

anything that has the ability to upload suspicious files to anywhere from your own computer should never be allowed as there is nothing stopping an unscrupulous host from stealing everything on that computer, if it has malware then clean it locally and repair the computer then the problem is probably over with.

i would always reinstall any computer that has been infected due to my own paranoia and the fact that i know there are a lot of hackers that are better than i am at installing software hidden in some random unknown user area hidden to the users.

i think the problem with kasperski is that it uploaded copies of any malware it found to its own servers and who wouldn't check data from anywhere with an email address of @gov. @security. @hmrc. or anywhere that looks fun to trifle through.

Android devs prepare to hit pause on ads amid Google GDPR chaos

ken jay

i have always blocked as many ads as possible, i am not responding to 99% of GDPR emails asking for me to consent.

due to the amount of embedded types of malware in ads i will never consent to seeing them and usually i will research what i need myself and actively shun ads that force their way past my browser protections.

yep devs get it into your heads some of us do not want any advertising on the internet thats targetted or untargetted.

I am from the generation that would not allow any data out of our computer unless it was initialised by a person on that server, i think the problem is that people need to take control of their personal data and totally ban data transfers between entities that have no relationship.

3,500 servers go down – so my FIRST AID training kicks in

This is exactly what you look for in not only a sys admin but in a job which you prepare for the worst its brilliant to test out your disaster recovery techniques. but mainly stay calm theres nothing you can do to speed up a fix.

a lot of sys admins only know failure because thats how we learnt to do what we do.

my view on the broken internet as a system admin

My belief is that hackers have found a way to access bgp on most main backbones grabbing certain types of traffic to their own c&c servers and others breaking bgp by attempting to access the routes by bgp all thanks to the article on the internet by yourselves

I have worked with bgp and thought that the security to access bgp was usually higher than most people with root access to internal servers and talked about in hushed tones around the aircon intake and cisco routers.

no the internet is not filling up, we dont need to rush to buy new equipment but theres a war going on behind tcp-ip between the hackers and the NSA who both want to take over this space because of what you can do to the routed data.

hang on havent we been told for the last 18 years that we should be carefull of what we click and always check that you know the sender and you are expecting this email. last virus i got was on the amiga. last malware was just the usual stuff thats detected by avg free and malwarebytes. i think this is just a ruse to make you not look into the NSA or GCHQ revelations. i think our hardware has a better chance of hiding the main threat to privacy and online safety and probably is. paranoia rules.

Boffins baffled after Sun fails to fry satellites

This is not even new news, i have been watching http://www.youtube.com/user/Suspicious0bservers on youtube for over a year, if you feel like catching up on some real sun science feel free to watch the last 365 days of the 4 min news posts.

I feel there is a correlation between sunspots, pole reversal and the heliosphere but due to there not being 100000 years of data i am unsure if we have a new maunder minimum or little ice age on the horizon maybe in another 10000 years of real data will we know this.

The IPCC have gone very quiet and countries are waking up to the false information that has been shovelled down our throats just to find a way to tax us for using the sun.

Next thing will be C/2012 S1 (ison) blowing up or reawakening the sun who knows as most people to see this have been dead for a few hundred years.

Guild Wars 2 game review

ken jay

not yet polished enough

not sure why people say this is a wow killer, its a nice addition but with no long term prospects.

i was lvl 80 on first char in 2 weeks, i finished story line in 3 weeks well before all the bugs were resolved.

its nothing new, no mounts, no clothes or decorations and only 1 way to fight. oh also same quests etc etc

i will give them a +10 on refunds i can now spend the recycled game money on more beer.

remember the distance selling rules guys and if the game is not your cup of tea get a refund while you can.

Apple wins second round of Samsung patent slugfest

ken jay

lol i just hate every IT company equally.

after 30 years in IT i just want to be a road sweeper with a nokia thats used as a phone and have no technology in my home due to all this fighting about stuff people like me and you other older users invented in the first place.

worst thing that happens in any country is that good IT people suddenly become managers and owners taking away the things we all invented by rewriting code and pulling in a patent.

worst idea of my life was thinking portable computing was the way to go

German court turkey-slaps Motorola in patent case

ken jay

Oh Dear the end of the world is nigh

i see this as a war against programmers, how many people in the 1980`s saw an idea and copied the effect by writing their own version of that code because they liked it.,

i wrote code that would parralax scroll myself. but now computing is out of the hobbyist`s hands the large companies are seeking to take over the technology from the people who actually were the innovators of the original ideas.

unfortunately for apple i will never buy a macintosh or a fondleslab both use stolen ideas made by the users.

be nice please i am trying to make a valid point not troll or be stupid :)

Solar panel selling scam shown up by sting

ken jay

Why does the government not step in

The electric supply problem would be easily fixed if the government gave all the low income families solar panels and the money generated went to pay for the systems over say 10 - 15 yrs after the 15 years the panels would be old and need updating but at least in that time there would of been locally sustainable electric added to the grid.

only problem i see is what would we do with all the tile makers and slate quarries.

Earth may be headed into a mini Ice Age within a decade

ken jay

hang on a sec

we know nothing of the way the universe works we do not have enough data or understanding yet.

We have only just started gathering data on the sun and 400 yrs ago the earth was flat, the periodic table was almost empty in 1970 now look at it of you did any type of science in the 1970`s

so until someone has gathered data for at least 10000 years we will never understand or be able to proove or disproove the earths cycles against sunspot activity because we really need data to overlap.

Broadband stealth tax

I have been an internet user since before we had a graphical internet, in those days i had to call a national number and pay through my nose to connect to the internet via a london gateway.

i have moved with the times probably subsidising not only BT but telewest, blueyonder, virgin now o2 and bethere.

my question is i have been an early adopter for 20 yrs now, i have always had to pay premium prices for services for all of this time. so my main question is where did all that money i paid to BT and the cable companies go. not pnly have i paid my fair share of money to these companies so that they can supply me with what i need/want they now want a bigger share of my funds so i can pay for something i thought i was paying for.

no privatised company should be allowed to get away with what they are getting away with, the early adopters have already paid this money out so that everyone else has the ability to connect to the internet cheaply, I suggest that the government goes to these people in rural areas and gets them to pay the extra money for the services like they already do when they need a road or electricity and gas running to out of the way places.

I for one will be looking at my internet usage and cutting down in the future as nowadays we spend more time than ever searching for what we want on the internet and we spend far too long checking that the latest email is a scam.

when the uk`s services get as good as sweden or tiawan or any other third world country then i will gladly pay extra but i will not pay any more stealth taxes to help fat cats get rich while the rest of us subsidise low standard access.
