Report: Legalising drugs would save UK plc huge packet

jason

And how would Wall Street make money then?

The U.S. invaded a whole country in order to re-gain access to opium, and you think the U.K. will legalise drugs?

U.K. is not as smart as the Netherlands to do that. They just want to make money out of drugs, not solve the problem.

UK.gov 'to create anti-net piracy agency'

Pirate

Not just about copyright and P2P

They are just putting things together one piece at a time to what it will eventually become a framework to regulate the internet and ban certain very disturbing content for them.

Soon, G8 will impose this to most of the countries:

The internet is the only place where there is freedom of speech, and some people don't really like that.

and Protect the Internet at all times.

They are slowly building a framework to be able to ban any content they want.

Wake up ppl!

Soon countries will be forced to implement this:

More should be raised

@Matt Thornton

You can see the breakdown without donating here: http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Donate/Questions/en#How_is_the_revenue_spent.3F

Now, you might be surprised to know that the US alone is spending 500 BILLION dollars annually for their military. I think we better question that, and think what our world would be like if more money would be spent on projects that spread knowledge instead of fear, destruction and oppression.

Berlusconi plans to use G8 presidency to 'regulate the internet'

Stop

Is it really Berlousconi talking?

If this is really Berlousconi's idea I think we have nothing to fear, as I think everyone knows what Berlousconi means (apart from the funny videos you can find on the net him picking his knows and eat whatever comes out of there)

BUT, is it really his agenda? The U.K. and Australia are (in my opinion) trying to pass laws about regulating content on the internet to see the reactions. What they really want to do at some point is make the internet as regulated as any other kind of press.

Who can tell me that this kind of content (whether someone agrees, disagrees or finds it out-of-ordinary) won't be blocked?

Yeah right...

If they care about what the kids are watching, why don't they care about their president helping out to kill thousands in Iraq and Afghanistan, and showing that on the news?

Isn't that a bad example to our children?

This is all an excuse to "legally" spy on people. They were doing it secretly, now they want to do it legally.

What terrorist?

The only terrorists I can see are Bush and the elite that governs the world through the US.

Resource-based economy

I suggest you take a look at this different approach. It's our system that is not efficient, not the resources that are few.

Good move

Nice to hear something like that happening.

Dawkins last book "The god delusion" is an excellent one, recommended for everyone, no matter what you believe.

UK.gov says: Regulate the internet

missing the point

I think we are missing the point here.

It is obvious that this is not happening to monitor everything. It is not doable.

What this is really about in my opinion is for the government (or whoever might call the shots) to be able to "legally" shut down anything they wish on the internet. So if something is spreads more than it should, they can have a way of stopping it.

This video would probably be on the top of the "bad" content: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7065205277695921912&hl=en
