Do the Webminimum

what this sounds like to me

houses get a really bad rap as a dwelling, when in fact later incarnations of the house itself aren't really all that bad. It's just that many House dwellers are disgracefully under-qualified as *men*; no amount of learning to sleep warmly at night does a man make - living in caves do. That's a long, hard road and there's nothing that gets in the way of that like a comfortable, safe, house.

U2 hardest working? hah!

as somewhat of a popculture whore. and more importantly, a rock and roll devotee, this post you've made here kind of speaks of your ignorance. there are myriad bands out there working harder than U2. If taking five years between two average-at-best albums, and more importantly, nineteen years since the last album they made that wasn't a flailing cash grab at new audiences, then sign me up for that job. hell I'll even do a better job of it while "working hard". And you know what? All the time I'll have between making lukewarm albums, and all the money I make from screwing over consumers, I'll even do things like "pay my taxes" and "give my own money to charities"

Bono accuses ISPs of 'reverse Robin Hooding' over piracy

Jorel Pryce

my employer is reading this so...

I am risking my VERY LIVELIHOOD to make a very important post about Bono.

Bono is a perfect example of a man who does not understand how business works. there are all kinds of other factors involved, of course, but it comes down to two things

1: you need to make money

2: people don't pay for what they don't want or need.

iTunes, Amazon, Steam, are all perfect examples of the right direction for today's market. all three are making large piles of scrillah off of easy-to-download, easy-to-pay-for media. sales aren't down because of piracy. Sales are down because of the brick and mortar stodginess and how counter it is to today's breed of lazy consumers.

I like having a physical copy of something as much as bono likes me to pay for it, sure. But if I can cut the cost of shipping and packaging out of my purchase for something that doesn't NEED a physical copy to be useable, I will. I very much believe in supporting the artist of a given piece of media, but paying an overhead for stocking fees and import taxes isn't going to help that artist one bit. all of the various and sundry fees tacked on to the eventual retail price of media go to the various and sundry people attaching them, not to the artist.

Digital media is what the industry needs to embrace right now. fight piracy by making your product viable. don't fight it by alienating the fans that can't afford your latest pop infused lame-rock seepage.

@ Matt

it depends on your plan with said TELCOs - I get free SMS incoming and outgoing through Bell - I checked with them back when the changes to SMS billing were passed, and they advised that my bill would not be changing. three months of billing later, and still no charge for any incoming or outgoing SMS

teach both?

teaching "both" does not encourage critical thinking, unless of course by both, she means to include all the creation mythology from all the religions around the world.
