Bury council carries can over spycam binmen

Young spies?

If I know your average 8 year old, I can imagine they would take the 500 sovs and if they could be bothered, make up some old tosh about the miserable old geezer at the end of the road who had a go at them for making too much noise last month! I wouldn't think for a minute that your average under ten is a paragon of virtue, who's stories should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Amazon flash mob mauls Spore DRM

Not a good state of affairs

So after you have had to install Windows for the 6th time that year, I reckon you'll have blown your 3 install limit on these games in about 2 months!

Joking aside as usual the only thing these DRM doo-dahs do, is hamper the genuine user. The "pirates" will simply knock it off and put the fruits of their labours up on the torrent trackers. Shouting at Amazon will only make Amazon's rating system look awful, you want change you need lobby the top management at EA with a carefully worded letter.

Although from what I gather if you only have a 3 install limit I can imagine lots of innocent users will be harranging the EA support line very soon, when it won't install again after little Johnny rebuilt the family machine!

VHS/Betamax...

Fabulous idea, but it will most likely not get the take up. Companies want profits from tried and tired ideas, they don't like innovation, VHS over Betamax taught us that many years ago...

BT shareholders rejoice!

You mean BT aren't going to get the government to sponsor the initial outlay then fleece every customer they have with triple-price, fibre broadband for the next 50 years, whether they had it installed or not?

"It recommends that big savings can be made by sharing ducting with utilities companies, a policy that has proved successful in France and is currently under review by Ofcom."

Yeah, until the unions get a whiff and start a ruckus about "one man, one job, one bit of kit down there" Guv!

Academic wants to 'free up' English spelling

@Christoph

Bang on the money! Happy to allow a small amount of change to the language as it evolves, especially as we head towards the "global village", of course we need to evolve a little here and there. What of the rich history we all have in our languages? Only the academics will be able to enjoy our rich literary heritage, we will need thousands of new bookshelves to hold all the newly translated books in the new "Simplified English".

Unless you have enforced structure and standards people will pretty much be writing out whatever they feel, in any fashion they feel like at the time. A newspaper would be like be like one of those poorly printed, multi-language instruction sheets from B&Q. You'd get the general idea but the details would be lost, perfect for your average Daily Mail reader I suppose.
