I'm not sure where the figures for the average debt for a student this year came from...

In my experience it's a minimum of 9 grand in tuition fees for the 3 years

Then there's the loan for eating/sleeping/drinking (which most people take out), which is a minimum of £3300 based on income, being about another 10 grand.

by the time you add interest and inflation to these over 3 years you're at about 20 grand owed.

i find it quite hard to believe that there are that many parents around who will fund their kids through uni to drag this average down to the £15000 stated in the article.

As far as I am concerned, having to pay for a TV license should cover any costs coming from the BBC, including iPlayer, being that it pays for the content rather than the medium on which that content is broadcasted.

It would only take a year or 2 for a HDD freeview recorder to pay for itself if they are talking about charging £20 a month for a better service, and even then I am only considering the BBC, and not the other multidudes of (mostly crap) channels on freeview.

if they are so bothered about "bandwidth hogs", then throttle the people that hog the bandwidth, not just the people that use p2p.

admittedly there will be a fairly large overlap between these 2 sets, but there are other places you can download gigabytes and gigabytes of stuff, will these people also be throttled? or is it just the p2p people?
