Eve is more like submarines than spaceships. I liked the physics in Frontier.
Once it got patches, first encounters wasn't quite so bad. The thargoid story and ending up with the Thargoid battleship after saving them from INRA was great! As well as the Argent's Quest stuff - I hope the new one is more like this!
Been with Talktalk for years and on the 40Mb/s now. Load of tosh about them being worse than BT, it was BT that drove me to them becasue BT are the absolute worst! In 5 years the LLU use with TT; worst I've had is the odd outage for a couple of hours - a lot better than BT who were still billing me even after I closed my account with them. Plus Talktalk have decent members forums wher eyou can tune your broadband connection depending on line noise/distance... Never got any of that with BT, just apes on the phone who didn't understand a thing. Also TT is cheaper as well as being faster and higher default allowance...
The people who make black ops made "world at war" which was crap, it's not the same team who did a dececnt job MW2. I agree with you about MoH being more fun than BBC2 though in multiplayer, it's superbly intense and a lot less campable. Shame about no prone in MP though.
No point in bothering with the single player though to be honest, no one buys these games to play offline - that's just something you do when EA servers are down :)
One advantage this game has over MW2 apart from the superior maps and textures is the lack of 'finding new host' stoppages! At least EA had the sense to run their own servers. I am just glad to have a decent game to play after the disappointment that was Halo: Reach multiplayer....
Not been a massive fan of the Halo series up to now, but this one is spot on. Well done Bungie. Glad I've got something to replace the incredibly annoying Battlefield games which were clearly coded by prats and the highly tedious MW2 which is so easy to rack up high scores it's no fun. Shame the PC doesn't get a look in with the new Halo, but that's the way it goes unfortunately - PC gaming is reserved for what it's good at - games like Civ.
As for the guy still playing Quake 2 - that was the worst one! What are you still wasting your time with that crap for? Quakeworld was the best in '97 followed by Quake 3... besides, after 12 years it's time to move on, seriously! Did counterstrike go over your head?
As for the comment about control on the console being a reason not to play - at least everyone has the same controller making the games a more level playing field - besides if it takes you so long to turn 180 degrees, up your stick sensitivity and learn to be skilled with the 360 controller - it wont happen overnight, but when you master it it is very satisfying.
No need to be so negative about a game you probably have not played just because someone who has has rated it highly - that just makes you look like an idiot.
I've been using the top of the range one of these for since May. I've been very impressed with it's build quality and the software build on it - OK it's Vista but it runs fine on this :)
I agree with the Poster above who mentioned about the motherboard soundcard, I bought the Creative X-FI option with it - guessing the Realtek would be rubbish - and it seems quite a lot better. I'm not a big fan of Creative but this laptop + X-FI runs my sound studio software fine with ASIO4ALL driver. Quite happily runs Reason4, Cubase at Ableton at low latency very nicely all simultaneously. Also has firewire port for proper external sound modules.
As for gaming - well it blowns my SLi desktop system out of the water (2x7800gtx) which I was rather suprised at! And is relatively quiet even when under heavy load - say after a long Warcraft session. Runs HL2 Orange Box on 1080p on my HDTV excellently though it's HDMI port, then chill with some Blu-Rays after.
Costs a hell of a lot of money (around £3.5k in all for the options I chose) but it exceeded my expectations so money well spent.
The only drawback I found was the wait time between ordering and it arriving - about a month - but you are kept up-to-date in the build process and it does feel a more personal experience compared to other vendors.
Top marks from me.
