Nice but just so
Outside sable rattling, impressing the locals, etc. a missile cruiser can do pretty much everything a carrier can do for less. It is the politics that keep carriers operational.

Will M$ ever learn.
First the endure NSA key and now if you use W7 mobile you have to consider how much of your life billwg&Co. are stockpiling away to trade with the gobberment when thy get caught again for trade practices or when Bill wants to push up the VISA cap.
Why would anyone believe what the M$ app site has to say about what an app needs or wats access to? M$ has been caught out in the open lying about what data it is farming before. so why would things be different now?
Take the figure reported by Uncle Sam and double it and you've got something cloe to the real unemployment figure.
The corp. payola must be nice because despite the jobs crisis no one on the hill or in the media talks much about some of the biggest causes of unemployment in the USA, outsourcing and VISA abuse.
"Skilled foreign workers" if there is such a thing, as it seems many states have jumped on the misrepresent skills sets for the people bandwagon. They may pay sales taxes or in the case of a transfer where they are hired in abroad and brought here may actually pay other taxes but must head shops have schemes where their taxes are reimbursed or in the case of Tata, not so.
We could all learn from the PRC and like they do kick any company out who seeks to damage the economy, in this case by off-slaving.
Reads vaguely reasonable but strong reaction of government cuts is well deserved.
The middle class gets the cuts while government was there creating money out of thin air and emptying coffers of funds real and imaginary into the banks. This helped wealthy insiders got their money out or took advantage of investments unheard of and the bankers involved were able to score record bonuses.
They really need to bring back the guillotine!
The story was missing a major TSA boner.
If you decide that your privacy is more important than your flight and tell the TSA pervs to get their pron elsewhere by sticking their people nuker and their grope down where they belong you can be subject to a $10k fine and imprisonment.
The fine is not so bad, 10k dollars is something like 30 EU since the rich folks in Washington robbed the taxpayers to pay the rich folks in the banks fatter bonuses but going to jail for saying no is a tad too far.
M$ should have known and I'm sure that they did that many M$ phonxors are quite fed up with version locking and other stupidity that seems to emanate from the land of Bill.
There were too many 1/2-ass supported versions of the Os and worst yet M$ tried to shake down developers for a mixed up new platform.
So assuming that is all behind them why should M$ be trusted to act differently now?
Poker is supposed to be about playing the person not the cards.
Sure, there are things to quantify what to do when a potential hand is showing and chip stack size, etc. but it comes down to tells.
Perhaps they can make a computer to pick up in tells, twitches, thermal imaging, the works.
We see this also across the pond.
Demanding ridiculous requirements for some slave-wage job.
Here they do this to use as "proof" to Uncle Spam that they searched for a qualified candidate and golly geez couldn't find one so now they have to hire a VISA maggot or send the job to an offshore out-slaver.
If outsourcers could just finally convince security and the public at large that their personal details are safe outside of the company and country (or at least obscure the insecurity). Then this cloud thing could let them send most of what is left of IT in the West to far off destinations (where the BPOs roam) and the CEO can get another zero in his bonus.
Perhaps Mr. Simmons might want to throw some vitriol towards the music monopoly.
They were ones price fixing for years, sucking artist dry on any kind of album sales and lastly caught trying to extend their copyright while saying they were just trying to protect musicians.
If the music monopoly had played ball and used the networks as another sales channel then things might be different. What they were afraid of was losing control. Milking albums by putting 1 hit track with more "experimental" material.
Simmons should recall how popular Lars and Co. are now not that it matters, his career is not going much of anywhere, anyway.
Industrial-military complex, Eisenhower mentioned something about that.
Everyone knows anti-ship missiles are really saber rattling as small underwater nukes are do not need to be aimed, are hard to detect, harder to stop and can sink a whole fleet for much less cost.
Aircraft carriers, more saber ratting kit, they have and should be replaced by missile destroyers.
Crew of 50 versus 1500 and you can buy 4 of them for 1 carrier. They can replace the pilots with cruse missiles or drones.
This is how M$ works.
Next, if they have little success with this a down and out company in this industry will find itself the recipient of a pot of money from an anonymous donor to try and carry a bad lawsuit to the bitter end in order to scare executives away from the competition.
Does Darl McBride own a cell phone company?
Exactly what kind of EULA do judges have?
If you accept judgement does that mean you have to abide by the EULA?
Someday we will all find out how this judge was paid off, does he own stock or was it cash on the barrelhead?
Why else would the court blatantly ignore how every other type of transaction assumes right of first sale and decide this way for software?
Hurd and his predecessor Carly Fiorina were overpaid.
The brought no value to HP and left the company poorer than when they came.
Hurd and Fiorina are regrettably typical of American management these days.
Get into a company using your network, cut and outsource while collecting obscene remuneration, and when the company starts to sink from the brain drain out the bottom and money drain out the top, repeat as necessary.
Oracle stock holders, you have been warned.
HP may have paid a larger fine and would have had to pay the lawyers thus the payoff.
We as measly little plebs would still have to plead guilty and pay the fine.
This is an example of what it wrong with business in the US.
When it suits them corps act liek individuals and demand rights and when it suits them they stand apart as entities immune from prosecution and held in special favor.
If a corp is going to buy off a probe then they should have to admit guilt or face the the beak.
Stuff like this just shows how badly the antagonistic relationship between company executives and the board needs to be restored. While they are at it they also need to restore conflict of interests rules to restrict board sharing so when one of these thieves is done scamming stockholders of one company they can not go on to scam another by using their hooks.
M$ should adopt open source at lease using BSD style licensing.
They should consider replacing NTFS (DOS) with something akin ZFS and gain scalability and robustness.
The problem is the ego of the top brass.
For all of the talk the money did not come so much from innovation but from business hardball/illegal monopoly type activity.
