Virgin to offer 100Mb/s broadband by year's end

Be Pro vs VM

ADSL 186m from exchange, sync 18Mbps down 2.2Mbps up

Real speeds 15Mbps down 1.8Mbps up

8IPs, No traffic shaping, No cap, £31pm

BE support is off-shore, call centre not so great on the few times I've used it, but email support top-notch (handled by the same call centre I believe).

Still yet to see Virgin match what I'm getting on BE, although I have to say if I relocated further from an exchange, I might have to go for the VM XXL.....

@ Kanhef

OH GOD...as someone who's been with AOL as an ISP since c.1998, and seen what used to be a pretty good service go downhill rapidly with the outsourcing of customer support and the takeover by CPW of the UK group...I'm looking for a route out....fast.

My own SMTP server on my own box going out via DynDNS MailHop is more reliable than their SMTP!

Speeds dropping like a stone....

Average of 20 outages a month on the DSL connection...

Anyone suggest a decent ISP with no thottling, uncapped (at least 60GB/mo) and no port 25 blocking? .. oh and maybe an uptime/speed SLA?

SNR?

While I'm here ... can someone give me an idea of a "decent" SNR? I know how to find it, but have no idea what is good & what is bad, and I'm getting a lousy 96kbps-128kbps upload......few months ago was getting 320 consistently...

Retention of hard drives?

OK, so fine, contract out the disposal of equipment, but surely in ANY business at any level, hard drives should be retained in-house to be physically destroyed?! Surely that is just common sense.... something which many businesses seem to be lacking....
