who is the puppet master?

The repressive Egyptian regime's top 2 income streams:

1. US Gov "Aid".

2. Tourism.

Suggested solutions:

1. Boycott US products.

2. Don't travel to Egypt.

Entire class fails IT exam by submitting in Word format

n

er.......

the clue to the file format was obviously in the company name:

ed excel (short for education by excel spreadsheet)

The funny thing is the markers don't even bother to open the coursework, it's more efficient to post out the qualification certificates and those intelligent enough to 1. open the envelope and 2. read what it says, have automatically passed.

Some say the education system is dumbing down...That's why articles like this one are so useful :)

"How does one go about getting one of these contracts? Whenever I quote for a job, assuming the requirements don't change, the price doesn't either."

the clue is in the question, THE REQUIREMENTS ALWAYS CHANGE.

Sometimes the requirements change too dramatically.

Boss frogmarches bound employee to cop shop

n

well done...i will do the same

the boss took the best course of action.

he at least got some justice.

i worked somewhere in a similar situation.

very small company, thief worked in finance dept!

the employee was ordered by the court to pay back the couple of thousand at £10 per month or something ridiculous.

He did pay for 6 months then stopped.

When the court was asked why he stopped paying, they said he had been imprisoned for a few months on another offence. (They never bothered to tell us, his previous victim this though.)

"So when will he start paying our money back again?" we asked.

The court replied: "sorry, a prison sentence automatically wipes previous fines/repayments, he won't be paying you any money now."

So, welcome to britain, steal money, plead poverty over the fine, get a couple of months bed + board + playstation at her majesties pleasure, hey presto, no more pesky fine to pay!

to the idiots saying "this encourages vigilantes...". THERE IS NO ALTERNATIVE JUSTICE SYSTEM. That fact alone encourages vigilantes more than anything.

More Tasers for cops: not in London

n
Stop

left...right...left...right...

no need for death penalty.....here's an even more radical idea.....PUT PEOPLE IN PRISON!

the ugly unspoken truth is by the time you've paid the bed and board, dental, medical, psychological treatments, recreation activities, educational needs, library, etc, etc, then it gets expensive.

So don't provide it, just a concrete box with a feeding tube at the top and a drain at the bottom.

Life sentences can be less than 8 years today, that should be changed to full life terms in a concrete box until death.

The death penalty is a red herring, don't be tricked into the divisive daily mail vrs guardian muppet show. 100% of people want full life sentences, that is the secret question that will never be polled.

But as for tasers: they are extra judicial torture weapons.

Armed cops ice South London devil dog

n

how to deal with a dog attack

the correct way to deal with a dog who bites your hand is to push your hand further into its mouth to the throat then make a fist. It will be your instinct to pull your hand from its sharp teeth, but this will only cause further tearing of your flesh. You must go against your instincts and push your hand INTO the throat and make a fist. These heavy dogs use LOTS of oxygen. Wait until the dog suffocates completely before removing your hand from the mouth.

If the bite is on the leg or body or on another person. Use both your free hands to pull the front legs apart. Dangerous dogs have weak lateral muscles on their front legs. By pulling them apart you will easily split the ribcage causing an immediate heart attack.

If you have a small legal pocketknife, push that into the dogs eye. The brain in dogs is VERY close to the eye compared with other mammals, so you can pierce the brain easily through the eye to end the attack.

ie, a change to a separation of UK relevant (including some US based) news , and US relevant (including some UK based) news, perhaps placed on different sites(OR DIFFERENT TABS if your on a 2.0 tip), say one called .co.UK and one called .COM.

I also miss the comments font...think it was ariel, it was bigger point size as well. It was a pleasure to read.....which suits me because i only read the story sub-headline and the readers comments.

@fuzzy wotnot

She is not "being greedy" as you put it.

She had her rights violated.

NOT EVERYONE can afford to hire lawyers and go to the trouble and time of pursuing a case against some very powerful figures (mayor, police dept. etc).

The idea is that these powerful figures recieve a big fine so that they

1. realise the severity of what their vindictive revenge has done.

2. put in place procedures so that the next person (who might be an ordinary joe who is not as capable as this person in knowing their rights) who faces being bullied by the mayor/police dept. doesn't have to suffer.

There are cases of pointless legal battles where people are greedy, like a small accident that couldn't be helped that has some minor consequencies.

THIS IS NOTHING LIKE THAT.

BEWARE ROYAL MAIL/PARCELFORCE.

Royal mail/parcel force is about right for small stuff...BUT BEWARE...do not get heavy items mailed by them.

I had a laser printer delivered and informed them of the size and weight.

(It clearly takes 2 people to lift the box as it is large.)

SO, the postman turns up at the delivery address and asks the person accepting it IF THEY WILL HELP HIM LIFT IT OFF THE VAN. She refused as she wasn't strong enough, (quite right to as well, as if he had of dropped his end the insurance wouldn't have covered the damage because she would have been helping to bring it in from the street??).

The postman took the huff.(they don't like delivering non-letters generally)

He then dragged it from the back of the van and deliberately let the other side of the box slam down onto the concrete road with a crunch(there is no tail lift on postoffice vans-remember)......he then dragged the box up the small path (they don't use the trolley things that proper delivery drivers use).

Then out of spite he ROLLED the box numerous times over the doorway into the office hearing it smash about inside, despite there being signs on the outside of the box saying "FRAGILE, THIS WAY UP ONLY, GLASS INSIDE"(glass=optical laser drum).

Once i heard about this i complained to royal mail, who then sent out a form to fill in and said it might be months before someone comes to inspect the damage for repair etcetc, heard nothing from them, and couldn't be bothered chasing it up as i had learned they were useless by then. £150 lost)

SO don't use royal mail/parcel force for heavy/big/fragile stuff. They are rubbish at that.

Taking a picture to wind officers up is illegal then is it?

So when rodney king was filmed the camera man was winding them up?

So when Mr Dziekanski was tortured to death in vancouver airport by police the person filming it had his film confiscated because he was "winding officers up" was he?

Why is reg justifying this position? Disgraceful.

Windfall taxing big oil: how to make the gas crisis worse

n
IT Angle

why not?

It's redistributing wealth from investors and private pension funds and energy company shareholders (like the author of the article funnily enough and thousands of other people) to elderly poor who are being hit hard at the expense of record oil company profits.

Scaremongers who don't like the tax forget to mention the other option....NATIONALISATION.

So, more tax on your highly profitable shares or nationalisation, which is it to be?

Thought so.

However, if as one poster suggests, any of this tax money goes on quangos, pogo-stick-to-work initiatives, or "environMENTAL" projects, i would be against it. (And i strongly suspect this money will be wasted knowing this gov.)

All the oil company profit was not created by the companies effort (as the author points out 9% profit is not great), rather it was created by gordon brown and chums who have created conflict in oil producing and transporting countries.

Is anyone else getting tired of this authors political ranting, check out "other articles by this author" link at the top.
