PC repair shop caught trying bank fraud

Shingo Tamai
Stop

Gentlemen you are missing the big picture here.

It is not about shops not being able to diagnose the problem, is about fraud and privacy infringement.

One of the shops after pushing the memory module back on the laptop called offering a motherboard replacement. Then the offer was refused, they short SOLDERED some memory pins together to replicate the fault.

Problem is that the source used for this article is not a good one.

Boot132

Thanks to Boot132 it is possible to store a set of kernel+drivers in the EFI partition created by OSX during install in order to conform to the EFI standard.

Everything loaded from this partition takes precedence over any other driver (or kernel) present in the OSX partition because the initial install or because a system update.

I guess it could be less time consuming to pay for VMware's ThinApp licenses and virtualize just the software you need.

Or stick with XP in the first place.

This is a tricky one anyway: "SQL Server" as in the magazine or as in the product from Sybase? :)

All of this from the recruiters?!?

The so called "specialists" that can't tell the difference between SQL and SQL server?

The same recruiters that are mass mailing IT professionals apologising if the position is not relevant and asking them to forward the email to the right people among their colleagues?

Lampo means

Actually it is the italian for "Flash".

It is a "deprecated term", but in the fifties you would say something like:

"Arrivo in un LAMPO" > "I'll be there in a Flash"

Lightning would be "Fulmine" and it would remember probably the name used for Lone Ranger's horse. :)

Operators and handset vendors plug standard charger

What do you think makes more mone

@Nick Palmer

"What do you think makes more money - a generic charger, using an industry standard connector that any company can produce and get certified, or a proprietary one using a non-standard connector that the manufacturer of the phone has to grant a license to produce (or better yet, just makes them themselves), and voids the warranty if a third-party one is used? Especially if the latter costs no more to produce than the former?"

Do you really think that Average Joe (especially if from the USA) would actually understand that a <b>universal</> charger branded Motorola is actually able to charge a Nokia phone?

Average Joe, like the majority of idiots out there would still buy a <b>universal</b> Nokia branded charger.

So, I really do not think that the manufacturers would lose money because they can always count on the "idiot factor".

@amanfromMars

"Is that fascism?"

Internet is the only place where you can read articles about italy that depict the real "shape" the country is.

Berlusconi uses its monopoly on televisions to do propaganda and to minimise the actual economis downturn. This both with the TV channels he own and with the national TV channels he controls being in the majority of the government.

Did I mention that he owns/controls newspapers as well?

As a matter of fact censoring internet is the easiest way to silence any criticism. Facebook is only a pretext, but first he will strike down on bloggers which still have a brain connected.

Apple sued over Jesus Phone 'hairline cracks'

Shingo Tamai
Paris Hilton

Bring it back? Not possible.

@ Christopher Martin, Anon, Fraser et all.

Since the launch of the Macbook the plastics (polycarbonate) has been too fragile and prone to develop hairline cracks.

After FIVE YEARS I still hear complaints from every single person I know that owns a macbook, no matter which revision they own.

As a matter of fact Apple recognised the problem but only for one half of the case, even if the plastics are the same on the top and bottom case. Getting a refund or a repair under warranty it's impossible if the cracks are on the defective-but-not-yet-recognized-as-defective half.

Now exactly what makes you think that Apple would give your money back for the iPhone, a product that has yet to be recognized as defective?

And how is QA going to improve if you do not hit them hard in their pockets?

Paris because her iPhone has dirty cracks too.
