The best netbook-friendly Linux distros

Paul Nolan

Works pretty well too, as a "full" type desktop - I set it up on my brother's Aspire One a while back and he doesn't seem to be having any issues so far.

I had to install a support daemon to stop the fan running at full tilt and a couple of other minor tweaks, but it's all on the website with instructions and install links - very simple.

Apple and Google fingered in monopoly probe

If Apple & Google are so close

Why did they bother releasing Google Desktop for the Mac? Didn't they know that a better system was already built into the OS?

Researcher warns of data-snooping bug in Apple's Safari

How bad can it be?

Does anyone use Safari as an RSS reader anyway? It's awful for that.

@R Callan - no apt, but there's a Gentoo-alike ports system for Mac that fills the same purpose. No idea about Windows though.

Thumb Down

Let me get this straight.

So, he's not criticising gay people, only the attitude that they should be treated equally.

Fuck him, and fuck his "apology".

OMFG, what have you done?

Reg 2.0?

Much cleaner-looking; very nice.

Paris because I wasn't even sure it was Paris at first, what with the new icon theme.

Re. Not spherical

Well, the "surfaces" of the carbon atoms in a buckyball are a pretty tight fit (ball and stick models just show what is connected where - a representation such as http://www.3dchem.com/imagesofmolecules/c60a.jpg is more accurate for showing the shape).

That would be true, if the bin didn't change into an eject symbol once you start dragging.

I see this ending badly

It'll probably just miss the point; Apple doesn't just make things pretty for the hell of it - the reason Aqua is so good that, although shiny enough to impress newbies, functionality is still what comes first. (excluding recent cockups with Leopard's menu bar & standard dock obviously - don't know what they were smoking when that happened).

We're going to end up with another Aero here aren't we?

Re: 'All ten'?

IIRC Chicago O'Hare made me give 4 (thumbs & index fingers) last I went through - maybe they're phasing it in finger by finger...
