You are wrong.
HTC only released the generic 2.2 update in August. So the delay by T-Mobile has been 3-4 weeks not since April. I got the update from them and I have 2 German apps but apart from that everything is fine.

..Free HTC Desire, 18 month contract instead of a stupid 24 month one, 900 minutes, unlimited texts, 3GB of internet unlike the 0.5GB given by Orange and Vodafone, all for £31 a month. And it's a pretty damn reliable network, been with them for years and internet is always fast and reliable.
I have found a big bug with the software of the phone and it is going back.
Before I start, all the numbers involved ARE stored in my phonebook!
If I send a message on the phone to a contact, it will display the name of the contact that I sent it to. Likewise, if they reply it will display their name. However, if I receive a message from someone before I have sent them a message, the phone displays their number and not their name. Also, if I have messages in my inbox or sentbox with the sender's/receiver's name with them and then restart my phone, I find that when I go back into the inbox or sentbox, the names have disappeared and just the phone numbers are displayed. This issue can be resolved by sending a text message to each contact involved, which then updates all messages I have sent and received to/from that person with their name. It will not update the messages with the contacts name if they send me a message, only if I send them a message, and only if I select their name when composing a message rather than replying to a message that I have received from them.
It's a good phone, there's no doubt about that. The screen is responsive, bright, clear, the qwerty virtual keyboard is great for typing texts, it has push email which works great with my Yahoo account, camera is very nice, the user interface is far superior to Windows Mobile.
But it's got some very annoying problems too. The messaging program is rubbish, I much prefered the one on Win Mo 5, it has annoying things like not telling you how many messages the message that you are composing will take until you click through to send. There are no arrows for scrolling left and right when composing messages, so you gotta be really accurate with your fingers. The default web browser is rubbish, so I put Opera Mobile on it but I would have much preferred Opera Mini. Customisation is nearly non-existant, no themes, no screensavers, auto key-lock is on or off with no option to change the timeout. My Samsung X600 from way back in 2003 allowed me to do these things..
..I just ordered this phone, and should be getting it tomorrow or Saturday. It's replacing my HTC TyTn, I ordered it on the basis of this review and the one on GSM Arena. My only worry is finding the on screen keypad annoying, but T-Mobile don't have any good qwerty phones at the moment so I'll have to make do..
I've got an 8GB Sony Walkman NWZ-A8178 and the build quality is fantastic, it feels completely solid and is finished in a metal case. The sound quality that I get from the earphones that I got with it is brilliant, plenty of bass and with clear high pitches. It's the easiest to use mp3 player that I've ever had, the menu system is so fast and logical, no stupid messing about with a stupid scrolly wheel thing like an iPod or whatever. It's so easy to use that I can use it whilst it's still in my pocket, I don't even need to see the screen. Oh and the screen is brilliant clear and bright, even outdoors. My last mp3 player (a Philips one) had such a bad screen that with any sunlight you couldn't see a thing on the screen. And best of all - it was only £72.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with my eyes but unless I zoom to 120% reading The Reg hurts so much!!
My resolution is 1280x800 and I can only imagine that the font will be even smaller on my other computer!
By the way, to those who said the site doesn't work right on Opera 9.52, try updating to 9.60

I just tried writing a comment (this one) on my other computer with Opera 9.6 installed and it works fine!
On the original computer that I had problems with, the add comment form works properly if you click on "post a comment" beneath an article.
However, it does not work if you click to view comments and then use the form below all the comments.
On this machine, it works both ways :S
I tried reinstalling Opera on the other computer but no luck..
I'm using Opera 9.6 and I cannot type anything in the email, password, or title fields of the comment box! This means I can't actually make comments using Opera!! Please fix this!!
Also one more thing, not everything is still there! Where are the links to Reg Hardware and Channel Register?
Well I've got a Yahoo email account and I've never had a single piece of spam..
Sounds like you've been signing up to some dodgy websites..
Any My Yahoo loads fast here, almost as fast as the normal Yahoo UK & Ireland homepage.
Maybe you need to change your internet browser? (I'm using Opera)
And I am gonna have one as soon as it comes out, I'm determined!
I just hope that ends up on a decent network. Although I guess no matter which networks has it, we are going to have to pay for it even on an 18 month contract as it's such an expensive phone. But to be honest I won't mind paying £100 plus a contract for it!
P.S. Does anyone know if this phone has a 3.5mm headphone socket? Cos if not I am gonna be incredibly disappointed and as it's being made by HTC I'd suspect it'll just have a stupid USB socket thing and come with AWFUL headphones..
..that Vista is better than OSX, starting with Steve Ballmer:
http://failblog.org/2008/07/02/microsoft-fail/
Anyway, I'm an XP man personally, I've tried Leopard and Vista and hated them both, too many stupid animations and flashy graphics which are a waste of time. I just wanna get on with using my damn computer!!
So what? New Firefox. Great. Opera is still better.
Just because more people download Firefox does not mean it is the best. People seem to be mistaking corellation and causation.
For example: IE is the most popular browser in the world but NOBODY here would argue that it is because it is the best browser!!
So maybe, just maybe, Firefox gets more downloads than Opera because it's had more hype.
Opera is one of the world's best kept software secrets. That and Windows Live Photo Gallery (perhaps the only decent piece of MS software in the past 5 years).
