Bill Gates: iPad is OK, but what Apple really needs is a SURFACE

Re: Here's the translation...

Which they could do by releasing a new version of their OS and their hardware every year, but they don't. Could it be that it's actually another company who cynically exploit their customers' "need" for the most up to date?

Only if the software is at little or no cost?

or maybe that wouldn't suit the worlds biggest SOFTWARE company.

Microsoft's Office ribbon hits Mac fans

Tony Batt
Jobs Halo

Seriously The ribbon sucks

Is without a doubt the biggest FAIL in UI history. I use office for a living (generally templates but occasional final draft polishing too) my client base demands that I have 2000, 2003, 2007 + Mac versions.

I have never met an enduser who has a good word to say about the ribbon or Word 2007, Powerpoint 2007 is better than previous versions, Excel - who cares, you cant style it anyway without workarounds.

Take my word for it Never use office on a Mac if the file is going on a PC at any point.

Microsoft conjures imaginary 'Apple Tax'

Flame on

mac pro cost £1200 a year ago - single 2.8GHz quad core, i use it as my PC too - using parallels - xp disc - office home and student - cost me around £170 using ebay.

I use the mac for web design screen design, print artwork and video editing

I use the PC to let me see how things look to the rest of you (and a little Powerpoint design).

macs are machines for home users who do not wish to learn how to use a PC or professionals in the creative industries. don't get a mac if you are worried about price-points like-for-like features or value for money, get a mac if you're in the creative industry and want to get on with your work.

3G iPhone not ready for the enterprise?

Tony Batt

£35 tariff here

I'm swopping to business, and getting 2 shiny new 3G's on the same account.

the monthlys are under £60 the pair

my wife is having the 2nd 3G, as she prefers my iphone to her blackberry pearl, my 1st gen will go PAYG and then to which ever son comes up with the most coffees and least cheek.
