Man, 19, cuffed after burning Remembrance poppy pic is Facebooked

Wokstation

I find Cameron wearing a poppy while selling arms far more offensive.

The MC Act simply isn't designed to handle social media. It was to protect telephone operators, then users, then covered email. All one-to-one communications. It really cannot handle a virtual soapbox without stepping on free speech.

It's technically an FPS, but pretty hardcore.

This explains...

It's not how I fancy my PC though.

Re: Due diligence

Self important? Nah, just know how important the money I have is.

Plonker? Guilty as charged!

Wokstation

I bought this tablet a couple of months ago, and of course did due-diligence searching rather than say "want shiny". One of my criteria was that it must support the Google's store (having found GetJar rather lacking on my phone), and found myself having to discount a lot of kit (mainly cheaper brands) because they weren't able to access Play, which obviously can't be counted by Google.

TLDR: Google's stats are hardly authoritative because they don't count the cheap slabs.

...due to a physical condition, I cannot touch, well, most things with my skin. Capacative screens, therefore, are problematic for me without a stylus.

This wasn't a problem with pressure screens, as I could tap through my gloves (no, can't use capacative gloves, I have tp wear special ones)

Wokstation

The young, sight-impaired?

It's not just old people that get issues with their eyes. These phones would be handy for the visually-impaired teen, or the middle aged mother with premature arthritis. Give disabled folks a thought too!

Re: Atos IT workers are threatening to strike

They are contracted to run the medicals for the WCA (ESA assessment) and for DLA.

They are widely despised by the disabled community, and have a track re ord that would see other government contractors investigated. Their declaring people fitter than they are is costing at least £60m per year in appeals alone. The human cost is even greater.

A less-fitting sponsor for the Paralympics I could not imagine.

Nintendo 3DS

Wokstation

I've had a go on one...

Tried out the augmented reality with the cards - was technically impressive, and amusing, but my eyes very quickly got tired focusing on the screen (while wearing prescription glasses). The screen-size is also ridiculously small, reducing the appreciation of the 3d effect.

I'm still to be convinced by all the 3D hype, and certainly wouldn't pay what Ninty are asking for something so small, but it's good to see novel tech out there.

Mens rea also

Mens rea was also one of the points, I thought? The CPS contend it's a "strict liability offence", meaning that you, El Reg, are also potentially committing the same crime as Chambers by repeating the tweet.

According to some solicitor-commentators, case-law shows mens rea to be required.

Sussex police try new tactic to relieve snappers of pics

Wokstation

Too right I'd want to help...

...and I'd do that by giving them a copy of the images. They've no reason to relieve me of my film unless they think I'm likely to abscond with the evidence or destroy it somehow.

And that's exactly what I'd say. "Sure, you can have it. What time would you like to meet me at the station to receive it, officer?".

Wokstation

I was under the impression...

I was under the impression that S19 only applied if they reasonably believed the evidence would be lost if they failed to seize it. As such, a reasonable promise to deliver a copy of the evidence to the station should suffice rather than the seizure of the film.

Feels like the police-on-the-ground are actively resisting having their control of photography being eroded.
