Bioshock sequel teaser trailer now showing

Bah, shooters are all rubbish these days...

Until there's a DRM-free PC version, I'll never know whether it deserves the hype or not.

That said, the comments remind me of every other shooter I've played in the past few years (FEAR, Far Cry etc). They all start well, with some nifty concept that sets them apart, then fall apart 30-50% of the way, through repetition and shaky level design.

So don't blame me for not feeling like I'm missing out on much with Bioshock. There haven't been any genuine shooter classics, since the original versions of Half-Life & Deus Ex.

Another one to avoid...

I've already specifically not bought Bioshock and Mass Effect because of the DRM. I re-install windows every six months or so. Sometimes it's a hardware upgrade, sometimes it's just to clear the various glitches and slowdowns XP eventually develops... oh, hang on - why am I explaining? It's my machine, I do what I damn well please with it! Same goes for any software I buy for it.

Anyone who tries to interfere with that, does not get my money.

Bah... NEXT!

For the limited uses I have in mind for a device like this (something to sit on the couch/in bed with; browse the web and do a spot of typing on), it *has* to be cheap. Not interested in excess storage, a windows licence, designer looks or anything else that drives the price up. I only spent £220 on a recent major overhaul of my desktop and that machine is a hell of a lot more important to me, than one of these devices would be.

Decent battery, at least 8.9" screen and price around £200. Someone please get it right!

Where is the battery at £60? The only places I see it quoted that low are US prices. The UK price seems to be £80.

Even at £60, that's still £280 - you can get a 901 for £281 (dabs), with a higher spec.

Regarding the size-creep issue, that others keep bringing up. The "full" laptop market has settled on machines which are almost all 15.4" (especially at the low-end). That's a bit large for a "laptop", IMO, so I'll be happy to see these netbooks occupy the full lower spectrum from 7"-12". The more options the better.

I'd just like to see them move away from bigger=higher spec and cost. The "best fit" for me, would probably be a 10", with a spec and price closer to the 701.

The extended battery is £80...

...at cclonline. That's the same as the last Acer laptop I bought, and was the primary reason I never bothered replacing the battery when it died.

Total deal breaker for me. I think it should have impacted on your score, too, because the One really isn't "everything a Small, Cheap, Computer should be", without the extended battery, and it's no-longer cheap with it!

£60 delivery? Nah...

I just ran through a dummy order for an "Inspiron 1525" and the delivery fee came out at £20 inc VAT.

Perhaps the £60 fee I see people quote is for full systems and not laptops? Still pricey, I suppose, but maybe a netbook will be cheaper :-D.

If Dells machine lives up to the hype and delivers a decent 8.9" with a 5hr battery for around £200, then I'll buy one; otherwise I'm going to pick up a cheap 4G.

Touch screens...

Any good for graphics apps, or just basic icon selecting?

I'd love something like this, if I can paint on it without plugging in a wacom.
