Pause Patch Tuesday downloads, buggy code can kill Outlook

Vernon

Got the same issue here, but holding down ctrl when opening outlook allows you to choose safe mode, and then it appears to work ok. I am sure "lessons will be learnt" at Microsoft and give it a couple of weeks before they do similar again....

Re: Missing the point

Isnt the issue that the NSA/FBI/US government simply demands data access and large corporations have no choice but to comply, thus rendering data privacy null and void if data is stored in the US, or(if Microsoft lose their court case) with a US corporation elsewhere in the world.

I wonder if you were to get a pet sheep or two -and if you should see one of these flying perverts, proclaim loudly that it is worrying your flock, retreat inside for ye rusty shotgun and shoot it down.

Tesla unveils battery-swapping tech for fast car charging

Vernon

I would assume they are going to be placed for example at each end of a drivable range, eg one on the M4 around Slough, and one at Bristol. So if you are a city user, you can take your electric car out of London, swap to a fully charged battery for the drive to Bristol, if hotels provide charging stations then you can top up overnight. If you then go on to Exeter, perhaps there would be another battery swap station available there, so you could return to Bristol the same day. If you need to cover large distances you can swap out the battery pack. Seems like a good idea and a positive step forward, as charging times are the Achilles heel for electric vehicles.

Moon on a stick?

Hmm this is getting silly, we have no control over our own borders, but must conform to EU rules. Perhaps the EU should impose the same criteria on US travellers to the EU, if they bring a laptop, we should copy the harddrive, get their personal details 72 hrs in advance, fingerprints & DNA on arrival. Ask them silly questions, about moral turpitude, ask if they ever donated to NORAID etc, and setup our own Guantanamo in the Falkland islands for any US citizen we don't like the look of!

All for Justin Case you understand, we won't look for commercial advantage in any of the data oh no.......... it's a security thing!
