I've rewatched Buffy and The West Wing in recent times. Imho, Buffy holds up better.

Gates: Novell are sore losers, Word trounced WordPerfect
I remember reading quite a few years ago somewhere that the Word Perfect team had to use APIs/Dlls from MS which, while documented, did not work as expected or lacked functionality. When they deconstructed how Word handled particular features they found that it used undocumented DLLs etc.
If this is true it would seem go to the the heart of the anti-trust argument and put a pretty big dent in Bill's argument that the Word team were simply better.

Just thought I'll add something to the Firefox and auto-updates debate. My users, who are not admins or priviledged users, can and do apply Firefox updates. Admittedly, I did have to add the updater to the whitelist but it works.
Unfortunately, most of them don't know what Firefox is and insist on using IE6 which, for reasons too long and boring to go into, we are unable to upgrade.

T-Mobile getting out of blighty?

Yay!!
Does this mean we won't have anymore of their wanky TV ads with their infuriatingly shite da-da-da-di-da jingle?
Though the award for biggest cocks (shamelessy ripping off Charlie Brooker) in mobile related TV advertising sure has to go to Samsung for this effort

GHoS is fine...
GHoS is easy and no where near the worst.
There are 4 quests to complete chapters 1 - 4 (4, 4, 4 and 3 pages required, 15 pages in total to collect) and a final hand in all completed chapters together quest to make 5 easy quests.
Any pages you collect should be mailed to your level1 banker who will eventually collect (several times over) a complete set of pages. Mail a set back to your toon, run to quest giver, hand in. Easy XP.
Now it's the feckers in Shimmering Flats and Booty Bay I hate. There is a chain of quests that send you back and forth several times. Before they added the additional flight points and allowed mounts at 30, as an Alliance on a PVP server it was a nightmare. Run to Gadgetzan, fly to Theramore, run up the coast (probably about 10 minutes), get ganked in Ratchet by bored horde players, res, get ganked again, res, sneak on to boat and hope you don't get ganked again while it sails to Booty Bay. Drop in quest, get quest to travel back to Shimmering Flats, boat, gank, res, 10 minute run, fly, run to Shimmering Flats, drop quest, pick up another quest to go back to Booty Bay. FUCKERS!!!!!

AVG update nails down stability bugs

Anyone still using AVG?
Me, I am. On both my computers. And my brother is on his PC and laptops, and so is my flat mate, and my friends, and some of their family, and when people at work bring in their home computer for me to repair I uninstall their expired security suite software that they bought from PC World and install free AVG and free ZoneAlarm. And they go away and tell their friends and family to download it for free as well. And the love continues to spread.
Firefox sweeps away carpet bombing bug

IE updates suck big hairy balls
It not really a hardship to do the update. Firefox tells you it has downloaded the update, all you have to do is close FF and open it again when you are ready. I didn't even have to reboot the PC. If FF doesn't provides updates it gets flamed, if it does, FF still gets critised.
Don't get me started on IE and the retarded system restarts that are "required" at 5 minutes notice just when you have started some online gaming session or have work open have just walked away from the PC for a few minutes. I mean, surely the update engine can look at the system uptime of the PC and see it was only turned on 20 minutes ago and so it can trust me to turn off the PC when I have finished with it.
