HP begs AMD PC owners to put XP SP3 on ice

I have a HP laptop with a sub-2.0 MHz AMD processor. Microsoft's update service is trying to push the SP3 update, but thus far I've resisted.

I've read somewhere (WXPNews?) that there is no need for the SP3 patch for HP laptops? True or False?
