Coronavirus to decimate server supply chain, analysts claim: Sales to fall 10% as factories stay shut

Re: That's the first time in a long time ...

Oh. I thought it meant reduce TO a tenth, ie destroy 90% of something. You live and learn, thanks!

It's "irreparable", actually!

DomainMonster email service restored at last after Yuletide borkage

Re: Domainmonster have more than email problems

I have also been with DM for many years after moving to them from 123-reg. Pity to see them falling behind the competition. I would be very grateful if you or others could recommend better alternatives.

Time to face the Apple Music: Spotify looks worried, and rightly so

Edward Noel

"Apple certainly isn't going to"

Apple press release 8/6/15: "Apple Music is available on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and PC starting June 30. Apple Music will be coming to Apple TV and Android phones this fall."

So you'll be able to get it on your PC and Android phone, not just on iOS/OS X.

Shoioppnig

I think there will be sufficient people "shoioppnig" for their products over Christmas for Apple to survive.

13" Retina Display too?

I hope they'll use this event to announce the 13" MacBook Pro with Retina Display. It has long been rumoured to be launching in October. Sorry to add to the rumour mill, but I quite enjoy rumours!

Apple lures Dixons boss Browett to run global retail biz

Edward Noel

Although, on reflection, Browett is moving to California to become Apple's senior vice-president of retail, a role that will give him responsibility for Apple's stores in America and throughout the world.

I'm a little bit proud to see another Brit join Jony Ive at the top of the world's most valuable company!

Edward Noel

Has the Dixons experience really improved?

"He tried to move Dixons from being a price and promo-led biz to one that highlighted customer service - at least that was the plan."

I was given a Dixons gift card at Christmas, so I had to venture into one of their stores for the first time in years. It hadn't changed much. Still lightyears away from an Apple Store.

Carrier apathy depresses Google Phone outlook

FAIL

Re: Mugs Game

I agree that Google care about growing the Android platform, but I think they really cared about selling the Nexus too. Most people refer to it as "the Google phone", and a lot of prestige was riding on its success, especially as an iPhone-beater. It looks to me like Google's attempt to sell (near) own-branded phones directly will just be a flash in the pan.

Why buy Mac items from PC World?

What I don't understand is why people would ever use a PC World to buy Mac or Apple items, when there are Apple Stores and Apple Re-Sellers.

PC World staff must be some of the least trained in the world, whereas almost all Apple Store staff are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful.
