Blizzard: Game designers aren't Shakespeare

Blizzard is Evil

You know, over the years I have grown to despise Blizzard. Their games are based upon brainwashing the user into the most boring and repetitive tasks, no doubt designed by some psychologist. Its all based upon all your buddies playing, which in turn breeds continual play. The gameplay is far from challenging and relies upon gaining in-game items, which they continually make redundant in order to continue the grind.

While I dont deny a company is in business to make a profit, this one has grown arrogant and very greedy. To add insult to injury this dracula company is taking part in a law suit with MYD that could change the very landscape of software consumer rights, in the guise of an infringement of copyright law.

And the way they operate is best described best in the words of JK Rowling. ' To a goblin, the rightful and true master of any object is the maker, not the purchaser. All goblin-made objects are, in goblin eyes, rightfully theirs... They consider our habit of keeping goblin-made objects, passing them from wizard to wizard without further payment, little more than theft'.

Replace the words goblin and wizard, with Blizzard and Customer respectively and it defines pretty much all the way their online games work. Of course, its common knowledge what nasty creatures goblins are.

And most of the 'lead designers' are truly despised by gamers worldwide. I believe references to Kaplan and his understudy Kalgan have had wikipedia reference editing disabled due to vast numbers of people writing nasty stuff about them.

Far from being afraid, all this makes me very angry. Labour has turned the UK into a fascist regime.

Dallas kids tracked for their own good

scary

Given the results in Dallas its hard to argue with the positive aspects of this.

However, this is leading our societies in a scary direction.. It also allows Parents to be lazy.. Why the hell do you need a GPS type system to tell you where your kids are. Shouldnt you know already?

SMS costs more than using Hubble Space Telescope

Ouch!

Yeah SMS messages are a huge con, but then so is the conventional cost of telephony.

The telecoms companies essentially have a license to print money.

I don't think anyone really predicted the success and popularity of SMS messages at its advent.

I rarely use SMS these days, often the messages turn into a long conversation costing much more than it would have been just to have a 2 minute conversation.

How ComScore can track your mouse clicks

Thumb Down

What would George Orwell think?

It's quite shocking really that people arent more aware of the computing surveillance that goes on. Logging peoples mouse movements and click is quite honestly scary.

Next they will be able to track people across the world using internet cafes just by the way you move and click your mouse.

The larger concern is the way search sites track peoples online movements (i.e. Google). If companies did this kinda stuff in real life there would be murder, but because its online everyone is either clueless or just accepts it.

Its equivilent to having someone follow my every move in real life. Make notes of what I buy, what I read, where I go.

Here is a task for you.. go to your web browser and turn cookies off. Now go to any search engine and try and do a search.. see how far you get.
