RIAA won't sue, but will throttle

Richard Johnson

music industry gits

Well all i can say is that there will always be sharing of music, just as we used to record records on to tapes as kids, modern technology will be used as it is now. If the ISPs stop the file sharers it will just go another route. Just as it did from websites to P2P and share spaces. MP3s will just end up getting masked in another sort of legit file that is not being scanned for. Much as many websites dealing with these changed the suffixes to avoid scans for MP3s.

I understand artists are trying to make a living and own the IP of their work but if the music industry such as the labels and management weren't so greedy the cost would come down and their would be little need for piracy.

RE Bittorrent declares war on VoIP, gamers

I disagree with throttling, we pay our Internet subscriptions every month so why should we be limited 11pm - 6am to get the service we are paying for. I will take the meltdown on the chin and then harass my ISP for failing to provide the service as described as I am sick to death of poor quality most of the time.Bit torrent wouldnt have had to go this route if the ISPs were a little more reasonable IMAO.

Many Hours Wasted

I too have had to fix the work boxes which are perpetually infected with virii as well as this style of Malware. Funnily enough the A/V and Firewall solutions I install at the end of one shift are magically removed from the boxes and a host of cr*p progs installed by my next shift. I think i will lock them down so tight next time that all the management can do is open notepad and calculator....

These are varying attacks as some come off with AVG others have extra programs installed in seemingly random places hooked through programs in /system32/

When I got faced with the last time I just said fu*k it and just wiped the machines so as not to have my day wasted just set the reinstall and get on with more pressing matters.

Great article i may print it off and conveniently leave it my the managements main box with a front cover saying something like "only for the tech savvy" as they like to think they are at least then they might learn and I can go back to doing the companies web development and hammering their bandwidth lol.

Retailers risk libel nightmare over 'no-work' database

Suspects Database Pah!

I too thought that it was illegal to give a bad reference... should be fun, have been sacked a few times never really for dishonesty though so should be fine or should I...

The idea of this database stinks as it will be abused sooner or later how can having that much knowledge of people not get abused with the way the world is.

How safe would this data be from black hats also... as wouldn't it be "cool" if you could screw someones career for money hmm or status. Pondering this how would the data be entered, what checks would be made of the accuracy and integrity of said data?

All in all i think this is a bad idea.
