Europe clears Windows 7 for takeoff

I'm Picking Opera

I'll pick Opera just to make a statement. All you Opera bashers are typically stupid in your rationale. If you don't like the broswer then fine, but I reckon the ranting by the Opera heirarchy have done the world of Windows good. This is a positive step forward and all involved should be applauded.

Hmmm...Opera 10 on Linux

I don't want Chrome. I agree it's too fast. It makes a mokery out of my careful alone time by making be get stuff done. I'll stick with Opera on my lovely Kubuntu. Just fast enough to get most of my stuff done.

And also help prevent Opera from sliding down the 2% that Linux users keep it up to...shame that.

Yeh baby

C'mon the fan boys...we'll make sure we download millions and billions of copies...i'll have at least 2000 downloads myself. Yummy.

Although I am silly, I do love Opera...been using it for about 8 years...nonstop. Like a trucker on Redbull.

HC2009 Keynote

At the HC2009 keynote, "Our Leader" stated that both Lorenzo and Millenium would act as common platforms from which other software vendors could build upon. What was not clear until she was pushed is that this does not mean these "platforms" would be availble to work with directly, rather that a messaging interface would be provided.

Now if these core systems are feeding into some sort of data warehouse, what each Trust uses as their software backbone becomes less of an issue. But then, why would someone commission a company to develop a system or systems to interface with to all intents and purposes a middle man? The data exists within the walls of the hospital somewhere and it just seems arse backwards that they are looking to put a common interface on disparate closed platforms.

Who in their right mind could develop a system that links through multiple architectures? And that is besides the actual point that Lorenzo is STILL not proven? I found my blood being boiled listening to "Our Leader" speaking to a hall of IT professionals as if they were flaming muppets. There is still too much politics and spin in CfH - I don't care about the right noises...and I feel sorry for the IT underlings of CfH who now have to shift mountains in order to meet the November deadline.

Come November, all we will see is more pain and heartache. I just hope that this iron lady has enough lead in her boots to continue to kick everyone in the backside, but no matter how hard you push a lame donkey, the ass will still drag.

The Paradigm Shift to Vernacular Enhancement

So does that mean the Procurement Department now need to be called the Buying Department? Who's going to sign off on the cheque to replace the door signs?

This is nonsense. Clear language is fine but many of these words are appropriate and valid. If anything, this council seem to be dumbing down their management if they cannot be bothered to expand their vernacular.

Oh rubbish. I have to ban myself for using the word "vernacular". Sorry, I meant "dialect". Damn. Try again. "words".

IFPI are big fat doo doo heads.

Nothing constructive to say really. In a simialr vein to the doo doo head on the stand.

Maybe they should employ the defendants to teach them how this new fangled stuff works. Then employ some other people who aren't decrepid to figure out a way of using this for their own advantages. But that not the Doo Doo Head way.

Paris 'cos she feels the pain of a Doo Doo Head.

Alter Zepplin....Led Bridge?

I'm looking forward to seeing Myles Kennedy from Alter Bridge live his dream of fronting Led Zep. Very good indeed.

Chronicles Was Great

You didn't even watch the Sarah Connor Chronicles to say it was "truly awful". It was arguably the best show on last year, with Battlestar pipping it to the post.

As far as a DVD player...this is the thing that is "truely aweful". I cannot imagine using it.

NIN Release Model Works

Hats off to Reznor and the NIN boys. I paid $5 for Ghosts in FLAC format, and regardless of the creative commons licesnse, this model works. I would have paid £5 but then I am not going to know a new double album for £3.22 (according to PayPal) in my lifetime so I shant grumble...

It is the perfect solution to cutting out the middleman. If I loved the album, I might get the CD, but even then there's a nice PDF of the artwork in the download and pretty much everything I want.

This is the only way to go. It respects the people who buy the music, and doesn't treat them like idiots by giving a good quality product. iTunes et al don't delivery this. Maybe if you 79p gave you a lossless file things would be different, but still not value for money.
