These deals cost a lot from the rights holders so that 30% to Apple would really mean something like 50% less content on a costed basis.
We the user lose out with this overhead.

One can't help think that most of their swipey rectangular court cases were to emphasise that everything else was 'not an iPhone'.
One just can't rest on ones laurels when it comes to persuading jou public into parting with 1000 bucks.
With $100 billion in the bank it thus sounds quite a squeal.
With the iPhone 4 essentially being a $5 chipset the only things stopping Apple here is being going backwards.
However with the new Final Cut Pro X being a simpler edition of Final Cut Pro it is possible.
And consumer needs are certainly less than professionals.
It looks like Intel have a long term partnership with Apple as part of their survival plan.

That new Archos 8" was released last week at £200 in the UK (includes 20% sales tax).
It looks far more appealing than the Kindle Fire with its extra connectivity, functions and 1026x768 screen..
So have Archos decided to bankrupt themselves or is this idiotic mantra?
