I hope the judge, when Steele gets sentenced, gives Steele the maximum allowed by law.
Steele (and Hamsmeier) deserves to have everything they own seized and sold off to pay any restitution ordered, and upon their release from prison, they get the clothes on their backs, and that proverbial 'pot to p--s in'. Not one thing more. Screw them any way you can.
Hopefully the Feds have had him under long term surveillance, and have carefully documented the suitcases of cash being stashed in his offshore accounts.
It would bring tears of joy to see him hauled off on public corruption charges.

You must service (pay off) debt; regardless of your revenue stream. Debt holders expect to be paid in accordance with the terms of their loan agreements. Default on them, and the shit may hit the fan. You better service that debt or else those loans might get called.
Cash flow dries up?? How do you find the funds to service that debt when income has dropped - by cutting costs? Often that means laying off employees. Laying off employees can signal the beginning of downward "death spiral". It most certainly hurt morale, and may cause some of your more valuable employees begin to wonder "if the handwriting is on the wall", and bail. Then you may be stuck with the 'less desirable' ones.
Shareholders knew that by investing in the company they would reap the feast; but also have to endure the famine. Debt holders just want their money.

What make me wonder is why no charges have been brought against the HP BoD, and executive officers for their breach of their fiduciary duty to HP's stockholders.
Their incompetence and inattentiveness to this costly matter led to HP pissing away a serious amount of pocket change, IOW - stockholder's equity.

You might think differently, if you were on the receiving end of a vindictive former employer(/manager) who takes any opportunity to bad mouth you.
Anyone can say: "Joe Blow is a lazy slacker, and isn't up to the task", but the reputation of the opinion maker should affect the weight it is given. One might take that reference from a boss well known as a hard ass with a large grain of salt; but give more weight to the same reference coming from a boss that is known to be fair, or an employer known for treating its employees fairly.
There are douchedirtbag employers everywhere. Their credibility needs to be assessed when you get a (good or bad) reference from them.
No IT professional would want any part of shipping your intranet traffic out to a third party, so who really are they positioning this to?
The obvious clue is Manglement especially those completely clueless, and more focused on cutting costs so the executive bonus pool can be increased. The same type of dimfuckwits that feel that the cloud (aka someone else's computer) is the cure all for one's ills.
Note to readers: IF your mangler starts considering this to solve your problems, get your resume in order.
