Hotmail phish exposes most common passwords

sandiskboy

My password is simple

I use the same one for everything and I have had no trouble at all. Even if someone guessed my password it would make no difference as I am not stupid enough to put any real info online.

MS opens up Security Essentials downloads from today

Does it come with extras?

After installing I was surprised to find Microsoft Office and Works had been installed to my lappy. Did I miss something when I accepted the licence?

Microsoft stores to get in Apple's face this autumn

Apple will love it

If people find an Apple store next to the Microsoft store they will have to go in. Microsoft are simply drawing attention to the competition.

Windows 7 — It’s like Vista, only less annoying

I'm going for Snow Leopard

After 2 years of trying Windows for the first time I have had enough, How do you guys put up with this crap? Snow Leopard sounds way cooler than Windows 7.

Windows 7 and the Linux lesson

Ubuntu Jokealope is so good

it took me 2 days to fix everything they had broken from the previous version. It now is harder for the average user to get video and music to 'just work' as it no longer offers to get the codecs you need if they are missing. Compiz is seriously damaged and my tv tuner no longer works. It is a joke that they want 900 dollars for support.

Windows 7 is far superior and I run Macs.

Where's Wally Vista SP2?

sandiskboy

I go both ways

Currently running Vista SP2 and W7 and I have to say Vista is better. I know W7 is a beta but it looks awful and the way it handles graphics and colour is appalling. The 'Dock' is the worst part of it and must have been designed by primary school kids as part of a competition. W7 may well use less memory but the CPU gets fried when it actually has to do something. Perhaps they are not allocating enough memory.

Apple bugs

Apple don't have bugs on their system. Everything works as designed. Don't bother filing bug reports as they don't read them.

On the other hand my Vista and my Ubuntu installs have no bugs as they are more open systems. Thank God for open systems. Unfortunately they look like shit and are a nightmare to use. As one of the Android devs said, 'I don't use an iPhone because it is the best phone. I use it because I love using it.' Until Linux and Microsoft inject some love into their systems I will continue my affair with the Mac.

Without love we are nothing. That is what Apple gets.

Mozilla security chief: Apple should open up

My box is so insecure I just leave it open

But the bad guys still ignore me. I want to be a botnet like you Windows guys. Is there something wrong with my Mac?

History shaped Google's Trojan Horse

Freedom is slavery!

As a non-tech punter I love Chrome. It is fast, simple, efficient and clean. I have no issues with it whatsoever. Might I suggest the people who are having problems are the kind of people who stuff their computers full of third party shite and have five thousand browser extensions. No wonder they have problems.

Coming from Apple I appreciate being locked in and having little choice. It makes for an easier life. Hardware is consistent, softwares the same. It's fantastic.

I've only used widows for a few months and I must say it's a right pain in the arse. Virus protection, anti-spyware, firewalls coming out my ears. I can't be fucked with trying to keep up any longer. So I've given in. No more being anonymous, no more adblock, no-script, flash block, everything block-protect-defend.

From now on I'll use Google and they can have my history, cookies, web search. I don't care as long as I don't have to think about a hundred million things just to enjoy using my computer. I don't want to be a system administrator. I just want to edit my photos without having to be a certified ethical hacker. Is that too much too ask?

Apple lags MS in security response

I am just a Macboy

My mac is laden with viruses and security holes. Please help me! I'm at my wits end as I'm just a Maccie and I don't know security and complicated things.

Should I get Doctor Norton? How do you turn on the firewall? Is there one on my Mac?
