I wonder if the issue affects people like me on TalkTalk's FTTC product which also uses BT Openreach modems. It would be nice to get a real upgrade... the whole setup of an Openreach modem that I "mustn't touch" for at least a year hooked up to a firmware modified old TalkTalk ADSL router seems a little shoddy. So far not had too much trouble with it though.

BT comes clean on Infinity modem 'upgrade'
Photoshopped image scam used in rogue Facebook app trap
Whos stalking me apps!
I always ignore/block/report these stupid "profile view" apps and try and educate my friends not to be fooled by them. However the other day I got a notification that i'd been tagged in a photo. When I went to look it was of some random advert for a facebook app. Not only that, the photo caption named me as one of the top 5 stalkers of this friend!! I hit the roof!!
Although I could untag myself, I couldn't do anything about the slanderous caption so I sent a very angry message to the "friend", reported both the app and the photo and then unfriended the person anyway since I hadn't looked at their profile in a long time and wouldn't miss them.
I wish there was a wide spread announcement made that all "how many views" or "whos stalking me" apps are fake, will never work and if they do spit out names and stats theyre all made up!
Shock! Facebook cycle-slut smutvid is adware front
The "Dont Allow" button was also rigged!
I saw this a couple of days ago when someone I know who's already careful not to allow dubious Facebook applications was concerned they were unable to say "no" to this particular app.
For some reason, when I tested it on my account and theirs... the "Dont Allow" button doesn't work. When it is clicked, I notice the browser makes 2 or 3 page redirects, before arriving right back at the add application page.
For many people, this will be enough to force them to "allow" the app even if they didn't originally want to; as given the nature of the page they may not realise or forget they can just navigate away to another page, or use the browser's back button.
This type of activity on Facebook really is disgusting and I hope a real solution is found to deal with it.
Did LibCon alliance bring down O2 network?
O2 gone titsup?
Yesterday evening I saw a fascinating outpour of grief on my newsfeed... First we had people moaning about the political outcome, this was quickly followed by Eastenders fans whining about the delay (and subsequent cancellation) of yesterday's episode, then to top it all off O2 went down and along came the posts of anguish regarding that.
I did feel sorry for the Labour supporting, Eastenders watching, O2 customer... it really wasn't a good evening for them!
As an O2 user myself, I was really looking forward to reading what el Reg would have to say about the issue this morning... but I'm slightly disappointed you failed to use the word "titsup" in the article!
British TV firm dumps Silverlight
Hopefully this has fixed the looping ads
I initially thought Silverlight was worth giving a chance until I saw how it behaved on ITV's website. I, like many others as seen in various forums including ITV's own have experienced the 'looping ads' bug.
If you watched something on there heaven forbid your playback gets interrupted or you 'accidentally' decide to skip ahead. Instead of it playing your programme from where you left off, you had to sit through each ad break leading up to the point you want to resume from. Then it would almost always loop the last ad break forever and never play the actual show!!
Its taken a lot of complaining by many people for ITV to finally have (hopefully) fixed this by moving to Flash.
Wheels come off O2's data network
Ahh its not just me!
This afternoon my connectivity stopped working abruptly with the message "unable to activate cellular network" as others have experienced. However one of my mates also with a 3GS on Simplicity was working fine.
As some of you have found out, changing the apn settings to mobile.o2.co.uk does fix the issue. Mine was originally set to wap.o2.co.uk for everything as after lengthy experimentation this is the only apn where the tethering setting won't 'mysteriously vanish', presumably when it does some sort of eligibility check. This was confirmed when I pointed out to my mate that tethering had gone on his even though he had been using it previously.
As its some sort of network glitch ill probably change my settings back to wap.o2.co.uk when its all fixed. In case anyone is unsure about billing.., both wap and mobile appear on my itemized bill as zero charge.
