If I were to lose my internet access today I still would not resort to papers or TV for my news, I would remain ignorant (just like I had resorted to papers or TV for news).
Being a "yellow journalist" is not a badge of honor.
To those who are concerned about the users being lost if you stick linux in front of them, what are you going to do when those users need new machines? You're going to put the newest Win OS and the newest MSOffice in front of them, which "look and feel" absolutely nothing like "traditional" windows.
The users have to be retrained anyway. Do you want to be in this position again 5 years from now?
... and just how many patents should we have limited Edison to? Or Tesla, or Marconi, or Ford... or Universities? "You get 30 patents, after that we don't want to hear about any more innovation."
The INTENTION of a patent is to convince the inventor that (s)he doesn't have to hide their work within cumbersome trade secrets.
