'The bods behind the Guinness World Records has awarded Xiaomi one of its certificates for selling the most mobile phones within a single day.'
If you look at the certificate it actually reads 'Most mobile phones sold on a single online platform in 24 hours' therefore where you say '..mostly to online buyers' should probably read '..all to online buyers' and the quoted sentence above needs qualifying too.
I used to expect better from El Reg but this appears to be a(nother) not-really-news worthy event spun into an attempt to start a comment war which is probably good for your advertising revenue eh?
'We don’t think we are any brighter than, say, Amazon or the BBC'
Except that Amazon is a 'full width' website rather than this column in middle of page that El Reg insists upon keeping. Arguably the BBC is a full width website too, at least they make good use of the white side columns.
Having said that *Please* do not go back to those f*sking whole of page sponsorship ads you run, they suck balls and not in a good way. I've no doubt you will though :(
'Pictures and headlines in stories and the “hero pic’ at the top of the front page are too big, making for unnecessary scrolling.'
<sarcasm> Just a tad </sarcasm>
I try to discover
A little something to make me sweeter
Oh baby refrain from breaking my heart
I'm so in love with you
I'll be forever blue
That you give me no reason
Why you're making me work so hard
That you give me no.. [x4]
..soul, I hear you calling
Oh baby pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease give a little respect toooooooo ooo ooo me!
Wait,.. not that kind of erasure?
Fit PC (http://www.fit-pc.com/web/) have been in the tiny PC game for a few years now. I purchased one of the early models years ago but looks like they have come a long way since..
If you are considering the NUC or Brix then you should also look at the Fit PC options.
Indeed, my thoughts while reading this are that HBOS (or even the half dozen UK banks mentioned) failing in a traditional way is not responsible for the worldwide ressesion we have been/are experiencing.
Not saying the government are taking the correct actions, but when do they ever?
"The publishing companies should already be passing on far more than this in the savings they make in not having to produce physical copies (and perhaps take into account that DRM protected ebooks can't be left on a park bench for someone else to read)"
You'd think wouldn't you... but no, corporate greed comes in to play and publishers just see currency symbols in front of their eyes...
Not read all yet, leaving work now so will read at home but have a quick question..
Is there anything new in the software/EPG that could not be delivered via a firmware update to the older FoxSat? Mine still works fine and forking out another (nearly) £300 for this seems bit much..
Have been expecting 4od support forever and if this box does (eventually) get it but the Foxsat doesn't I will not be chuffed!
